Thanks for the heads up on the sale price. There are several on TBN that did appreciate you letting us know, no matter if there are some that can't take it for what it is. It has gotten worse over that last year or so, to where you can't even bring up the subject of oil without getting it crammed down your throat.

One of the reasons I stated that I did not use Amsoil was because of the sales attitudes of their prople. I guerss this thread proved my point /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thats not my point. I agree that the synthetics last longer and have better properties. No argument there. My point is that I dont see a point in using it. Its like buying the special osmosis waters in the store for $5 per bottle. It may be good, but doubt it will make up for any other issues inside the body.

If my trucks last 150,000mi on dino oil without any problems. They can be inspected w/o any sludge build up, blowby, knocks,etc. So, what's the point?

You still have hydrocarbon and acid build up in the oil from the normal combustion process regardless of what oil you use. How long is long does an oil need to last if you change it at 3Kmi?

Is'nt Amsoil marketed through Amway? Just curious, I've never used it.

Actually, it never had anything to do with Amsoil until slowrev specifically brought that up, it was all about Castrol's false advertising of their fake synthetic motor oil being substandard product.

Most of the people that use motor oils don't know the difference between dino and synthetic anyways...and would be happy to use Castol's products even if they are substandard inferior mislabelled motor oils. as long as they were cheap.

SkyPup, I definitely admire your vast knowledge on oils. I've collected some useful info from some of your posts about oil now and in the past. Answer this for me...if castrol or any other oil was detrimental to your car during regular maintenance intervals, don't you think there would be warnings from somewhere (manufacturer, oil company, etc.) about these oils? Now, I don't mean test results posted in a manual or service report that the normal joe does not know about. I've based my opinions and choices on real life experiences. Castrol has been used by several friends and family members, including myself, with no problems. Now, I might have a little extra sludge in my oil pan but if my motor still has excellent compression and shows no real wear at 150k miles, than I'm satisfied. I just think we are taking this issue a little too seriously...use whatever oil you like. After all, life is too short to ponder on something so insignificant.

I wholeheartedly agree 100%, don't take life so seriously, after all it is not even permanent, it'll be over before you know it and someone else will end up with your tractor when your estate is settled.

My college roomate never changed the motor oil or the oil filter in his 1966 Dodge Slant Six, he just kept adding a quart of the cheapest rotgut motor oil he could find to it every 500 miles since new and it made it to 185,000 miles before the engine self destructed!. Everyone should follow his lead and just don't ever change the original oil that came from the factory in the engine as it is the best to begin with! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually it was originally just a heads up about a product that had a special price until Amsoil took over the thread like it always does when lubricates are mentioned. No one can talk about oil without Amsoil lovers taking over the whole thread. EVERY TIME..... I would be really nice to be able to have a discussion about oil without the whole thread being totally dominated by Amsoil propaganda.

Hmmm, the main reasons stated not to use Castrol was due to their false misleading inferior products that we brought out in their federal court case and their chemically inferior products that have been taken off the market, including their recent conviction for more false synthetic fuel additives most recently, indicating that their product trustworthiness is next to nil.....

But your correctt, it would be nice not to have things dominated by continual anti-Amsoil rhetoric all the time, especially when Amsoil had nothing to do with Castrols reputation for poor products, false and misleading advertising, inferior chemistry, etc.
