i have a JD110 tractor/loader and just bought a used MF345 plow. Come to find out that the plow looks like a cat2 and my tractor is cat1. What are my options, if any? the pins on the plow are fixed so they can not be downsized. can you buy cat 1 to cat 2 lift arms? new to all of these attachments so sorry for the basic questions / thanks / keith

Not sure what you mean by fixed. They don't bolt on?

no on the 345 the pins are part of the plow assembly - like the shaft was just tooled down to the pins - definitely not removable

i'm researching getting cat 2 lift arms and using a reducer on the tractor end...or seeing if there is an adaptor or an easy way to convert my implement end to cat 2

Got any pictures of the plow and the mounts for it? I have some ideas, but would need to see the front of the plow.

After you change it are you sure it's not to big for your tractor. Cat 2 are 50+HP, so check that before you spend a lot of money.

Hmmm...

I was thinking of a piece of 1/2" plate welded onto each side of the plow which was drilled to accept one of the bolt on Cat 1 pins. Hard to tell if that would work here though. Might be do-able to put it right in front of the Cat 2 pin and maybe a little tighter to the plow so that either could be used. It could be done in the first pic, but not sure about the other side. Can't tell how they relate to each other.

What about cutting off the Cat 2 pin where it gets larger at the bar and welding a Cat 1 pin with the threads cut off onto the end of the bar in its place?

DCYRILC, is right welding the Cat 1 hardware on would be the cheapist solution to problem.

Would Pat's Easy Change or other QH solve the OP's problem? I'm thinking Pat's as it would require the least amount of fabrication and potential altering of other implements.

i just looked at pats easy change system and i think that is the best way to solve my problem. i'm thinking a #112 (cat1 to cat2) would solve the plow problem and if i bought bushings for my cat 1 pins on my other implements, i could just use the easy change system for everything - sound logical?

thanks for the tip / keith

Sounds do-able. Let us know how it works for you. I'ld still like to see some more pix of the plow when you get a chance.

If you are good with a grinder you can grind the Cat 2 pins down to Cat 1. Take a little off all around.

Buy a Cat 1 to Cat 2 bushing (about $1) to gauge when enough material is removed. When the bushing slips on you have your fix. It won't be as strong but those old plows are usually over engineered anyway.

If the ground pins break off the welding on new pins remedy could be used.

got my pat's easy hitch system in yesterday and installed it on my 110. this item is very well built and i'm pleased with the construction. the old MF345 plow hooked up fairly easily and I plowed up 2 small sections of the field. I will get some bushings to convert cat1 pins to cat2 so my other cat1 implements will work with the easy change system. Thanks for the info to help this new-to-farming person learn a little more / keith
