I have been trying to figure out if the pto shaft length is differ between cat1 and cat 2 implements. I have a neighbor with a kioti nx 6010 with a cat one brush hog do i need to purchase a pto shaft to run it on my ck 2610. I know the width is different between cat 1 and 2, nowhere have i found anything on the length of the arms or pto shaft lengths being different.

Just measure the distance between catch points with the implement in place. Then measure the PTO shaft fully retracted. You can then compute the overlap that will be there.

A fellow with a series 3 JD with (I think) Cat 2 stuff bought my Cat 0 MacKissic. I sent me a picture running it without the QH (which would not work on the Cat. 0) in place. He didn't mention about doing anything to the shaft.

Cat2 is wider like you say, also pin sizes different so you’ll need bushings for the side links and the top link.
I had to modify a PTO shaft on an old mower but I’d think you’ll have to try it to know. Check the overlap and length in both down and raised to make sure it does not bind!

Some older tractors had the option of different sized rear tractor tires which causes 3 pt lower draft links to longer on tractors with larger diameter rear tires. Different length 3pt draft links will affect pto driveshaft length.

Normal Cat l vs Cat ll shouldn't affect pto driveshaft length. JD MX5/MX6 rotary cutters could be Cat l or Cat ll & only 1 length 3 pt pto shaft is listed in parts catalog.

Specially the brush cutters have an exreme long PTO shaft with a lots of travel in them. I'm actually running a 5 ft hog on a 6 series JD that I purchsed for the 26 HP JD 4200.
Would he different if it's a tiller with a short shaft.

I believe length of PTO shaft is more determined by distance for tractor to implement than rather what category it is.... Haven not seen a "standard" for over all length, always seen statements about sliding overlap if shaft required for safe operation though...

Thank you, after being able to have the implement on today and measuring the shaft will work for either tractor. I didn't expect it was possible being only framiliar with cat 1 tractors. Much to read on here and learn.

I’m sure there are exceptions but I have used a lot of shredders across three different categories of tractors with and without quick hitches and have never had an issue. I think they make them pretty forgiving with regards to PTO shaft length.
