How much bigger is a cat 2 pto vs a cat 1. Can you get get an adapter to change it with out buying a new driveshaft.

Are you asking about the upper link, the drive shaft or the tractor's stub shaft?

The upper link pin diameter is 3/4" on a Cat 1, 1" on a Cat 2. You can use a 1/8th inch (wall thickness) bushing for that.

The pto shaft. I got the bushings from the dealer. I went to hook my finish mower up and the splined shaft is bigger than the driveshaft. Do they make an adapter without buying a new shaft.

Tractor Supply (and other farm supply stores) carry spline adapters.

They carry adapters, but unless you've got something goofy, all 540 PTO shafts should be the same. Are you trying to use a 1000 rpm implement on a 540 rpm PTO?

What kind of finish mower? Are you sure it doesn't have an older 1 1/8th inch input?

1-3/8" 6 and 21 spline are std up to the big tractors. After that ?100+HP? they go bigger to prevent twisting off by huge peak loads. Im not familiar with True transition point or the precise step up in size.

I went back just now with nothing in the way and just the tractor half of the driveshaft. I slid it right on. Good now I can get to mowing.
I guess the other nite I had spent about two hours hooking up freeing everything up from leaving it sitting and getting the flat tires fixed. I guess I didn't try real hard to get it on.
