Pat's Easy Change category 2 vs 1

i would like to get one of pat's easy change hitches for my jd 5500. it is a category 2 hitch but most of my implements are cat1 except for heavy duty rhino bush hog. i can't decide whether to get a cat 2 and put bushings on all cat 1 implements or to get the cat 2 to 1 easy change and take the easy change off for using the cat 2 bush hog.
i have looked thru the previous posts but cannot find a specific answer or recommendation to this question.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd think changing the pins on the bush hog to cat 1, and you are good to go with the Pat's cat 2 to cat 1.

Most implements that have cat 1 pins, can be changed out to Cat 2. That would be the best, if they are changable? Ken Sweet

I'm in a similar situation. As I can I'm replacing my cat1 pins with cat2. Simplier and don't have to mess with bushings.

Borisvonf I am changing from so so Cat 1 to 2 on the old non standard bushhog so I can use Pat's that I installed yesterday.

The new Bush Hog box blade comes with the 1 and 2 combo pins and Pat's hitch works great on either with bushings on Cat 1 part of the pin. The old generic bushhog type cutter uses a removable pin that pasted through a hole then the the tractor arm hole then another hole but Pat's hitch would not go deep enough without hitting for the hitch to catch.

We are just putting a cat 2 pin in the outside piece of metal hole so we can use it as a Cat 2 set up.

This issue is not related to just Pat's hitch but even the cheaper Ebay options would not have worked. This evening when I get home I think I will have it all working fine. It was like 10 PM last night when we learned about the old bushhog non standard hitching.

Pinning a bushing on a Cat 1 would be the fastest way to go.

This old 7' hog is so heavy plus I found heavy Cat 2 pins in the FIL's old shop before it was sold so I do not have to buy any new pins. They are not undercut to fit a Cat 1 pin hole so we are making the holes in the bushhog hitch just a little larger to use these heavy pins.

Let us know the solution that made the most sense in the end.

Buying Pat's Cat 2 to Cat one just did not set right with me because the 265 MF is a 60 HP tractor and it is Cat 2 for a reason.

I looked at the heavy 3 point hitch set up but that option did not make sense due to having and may get other NON Standard hitch based equipment. From just installing it Pat's Cat 2 system seems to be of very high quality. The Ebay stuff did not seem that way for a 60 HP tractor but would be Ok I am sure for many tractors.

beenthere I just came from TSC and when looking that the Cat 2 pins designed for Cat 1 holes vs. Cat 2 holes I can see the wisdom staying with Cat 1 pins and using bushings or the undercut Cat 2 pins for Cat 1 bolt holes on implements designed for Cat 1 hitching. Dad always said a "weak link" was a good thing if it was in the right place.

If one is bending/breaking Cat 1 pins with a Cat 2 tractor the implement is at risk.
