Thanks for the link. Tractor season is just getting under full swing up here, it's good to have a reminder. Some of the images are indeed graphic but they do stick in your mind /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Very good info. There are people that talk about and have stated they have built or modified their rops on their tractors. they should see this. It is my opinion that one should not modify or disguard any safety device .IT is there for your protection. BE SAFE

I don't know why but I was able to look at all the images...normall I can't stand to look at things like this.

I think it is because I use my tractor a lot and try to keep the dangers in front of me.

A couple days ago I saw my neighbor outside and walked over as he was hooking up his snowblower to his tractor to move it. Old international 38 PTO HP machine with about a 6 or 7 foot old snow blower. He needed to move it and hooked up the PTO shaft while the engine was running...while I was looking of the key to shut it off just in case.

The worst of all, he turned on the pto and went and got a five gallon can of used motor oil (I assume because it was black) and stood right in front of the turning blower and splashed oil on the moving parts...

I didn't say anything...I should have...but I figured he would not listen anyway...old dog and all that...

One can never get enough safety reminders. Thanks for the links. Nasty...no. Realistic, certainly.

Could it happen to any of us if we don't use our heads...we all know the answer to that one.

SkyPup... thanks for the link. The best thing to keep people of their toes is to see images like that. When I got my tractor I spent several days reading the Safety forum and I think everyone should do the same... whether you've been using tractors for 50 years or 5 minutes. You have to have respect for the machinery that you are using.

Very appropriate with tractor season picking up... just started turning over the manure pile for the spring and caught myself not using the seatbelt.
Personally I think everyone, regardless of their age, should have to look at the photos while they read the account of the accidents.

You know what is so freaky about tractor safety is that it is a virtual constant.

You can take a short cut and step over an operating PTO dozens and dozens of times without incident, or stand on your post hole digger to add more weight, or you can bushhog a slope mumerous times at 10+ degree angle and not tip, or lift an extremely heavy load in your FEL and not tip, or drag dozens of logs with your 3pt hitch instead of the drawbar and not flip, or give a young child a ride in the cab without incident.

But it is that ONE time that gets you, it may not be your first, but it certainly becomes your last.
