CCW question...

I think CCW means carry conceiled weapon, right? If not, that's what I'm referring to.

Question for you guys who have them...

You are carrying and do some errands.... you happen to walk into the post office or alcohol store or Walmart or your bank or.....

Are there some places you can't go while carrying and if so, what exactly do you do when you find yourself in a position of not thinking ahead and you've got your gun with you and need to go to a location?

Do you sit outside while the wife goes in? What if she's not with you, do you put it off or do you leave your gun in car while you go inside?

I'm not trying to be too nosey.... I've just wondered about a few circumstances where carrying a gun might put someone into a funky situation of conflicted welcome.

Surely someone has found themselves at least once in their life in a situation where you think..."Dang.... I need to go to such & such place, but I've got my gun with me and can't take it in there"

?

In Tennessee the permit to carry does not require concealment however it is strongly advised. This is so you do not get in trouble when you reach for something on the top shelf at walmart and your shirt lifts and temporarily exposes your gun. Yes Wal-mart is legal along with any private or public buisness, however in TN the owner has the right to post the place as a non carry property and then I usually stow it in the car but when that sign goes up my buisness goes elswhere. State parks and courts schools ect. are off limits. Here is a site with lots of good information:

I drop my kids off at school some mornings. I could not legally drive into the parking lots to do that if I was carrying a concealed firearm.

My employer prohibits firearms on company property. So I could not park in their parking lot and leave it in my car, nor carry it at work as I could get fired for that if I did.

I went to pay my taxes last spring and forgot I had a small pocket knife with a 2" blade. I had to take it back to my car before they would let me in the building. I've carried a pocket knife since I got my Tote n Chip card at 8 years old in Cub Scouts!

I know, but that is the best we have for now. It's fairly new and will evolve into something better in the future. It's already changed a few times since it became law.

Oh I know. The latest one banning the posting of "no CCW" in public parking garages was a big step forward. I always thought is was extremely stupid for the garage owner to be able to ban CCW. They also fixed carrying in your car. The original law was absurd regarding this.

Seems to me that the criminals will just flock to the areas where they know people are unarmed.

if a private business bans CCW.. then I think they should be personally responsible for the wellbeing of each person on their property.. IE.. if a robber goes in to 'store Z' and robs the place and shoots 3 customers, and the customers were prevented from protecting themselves due to a 'NO CCW' policy by the company.. then I think the families of the victoms should be able to divy that company up afterwards.. ( so to speak.. )..

Richard,
I just read your thread on the redneck neighbor. Then read this one

Don't do anything crazy. These threads could be used against you in court to show that it was pre-meditated:eek::eek::eek:

Podunk.... that had me chuckling..... Worry not anyone who's read my recent rantings... I'm still in control of my senses.

Although I've been around this place since it was "Kubota.com" I've answered most of my tractoring questions for my current state of affairs, therefore, I'm more of a lurker nowdays just seeing what's going on unless I get a couple questions. I then turn into a "spurt poster" and that's what's going on now.

I'm just hitting several things that have been on my mind lately.

I've even been taking pictures of the beginning stages of our new addition so I can perhaps, later on create a thread showing what we did.

Come to think of it... I'm not so sure I've ever posted finished pictures of the bathroom we finished downstairs.... the one with the shower stall built out of 2x6's and the wife says she gets first dibbs to if we need to go to an emergency shelter...
