Note: Cement is a fine grey powder (and can somethimes be white) that when mixed with water becomes cement paste. The addition of fine aggregate (sand) makes it mortar and fine aggregate along with coarse aggregate (stone) make concrete. Cement is an ingredient in concrete and mortar. You wouldn't call a cake flower just because flower is an ingredient!
Amen! Recently a guy at work started calling concrete "macadam" and I have to bite my tongue (he's a friend). He even jokes and says "what some people would call concrete." The last time he said that, I said "because that's the correct name for it!" and laughed at him. I'm not sure if it's worse than calling is cement or not....
