Census Jobs?

Why not? I guess I don't understand why anyone would object to being counted. I don't really know what all the questions are this year, but I can't imagine any that I would object to answering. And of course, I'll be polite to any census taker because he/she is just doing the job they were hired for.

One problem is that you open the door and there is no clue that they are census takers until they explain it. Their cars should have a sign on them big enough to be seen from the front door/window.

I don't mind answering a few basic census questions but wait until you see the pages of questions the "American Community Survey" asks if you are picked to do so. Like if your house needs windows or roof replacement and when you leave for work.

I rarely give out personal information, or answer questions for the government. The less the government knows about me the better.

I doubt they'll be knocking on my door. I'm 350-400 feet off the road. entire property fenced and gated drive
Unless they are and fence climbers in their stable. I will never see one of these people

To many personal questions in my opinion. They want name, age, date of birth, ***, phone number, mortgage or not, Latino or not, Race, and name of second person in home and how related.

The Census is a "Head Count" conducted by who knows. I will tell them how many people live here, Period. I am willing to pay the $100 fine for not answering those invasive questions.

I agree.

Google, Facebook, Android, etc. all know more about us than any census taker.

The American Community Survey is very intrusive and goes on for a whole year. They pester the crap out of you. You can be fined $5K for refusing to do it. I did the one in 2010 and don't plan on doing it again.

I was asked to do one in 2018 and only answered the simple questions I thought were normal census questions. I wrote a note with my concerns about identity theft and was not going to answer questions like about my purchases or when I normally leave the house. I never heard back from them.

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti. Dr. Hannibal Lecter:

I doubt that a census might be conducted out here. The density is just too low. You could drive 100+ miles and only contact half a dozen homes. It would be OK where you have subdivision-like development and could walk, house to house.

During the last census, they left a packet on the door of my great grandparents house. It has been vacant since 1972. It is in the middle of nowhere behind a locked gate and a half mile from the road. They must look at satellite photos to find these structures.

Or "Dial a Commie", Chinese or Russian.

My kid brother did the census gig some years back.
We are in a rural area.
They cut back his mileage claim.
Made him go back to get absent people but would not pay the extra mileage saying to use the phone.
Most of the 'call backs' were toll calls and they refused them as well.

The result was he used up a couple weeks of time and was out of pocket on the exercise.
It did however get him out of the house for needed exercise.

Just got my census notification. Did it online - took 5 minutes. Pretty sure it was the short version. I had no problem doing my part. Maybe that data will help provide backgroud that gets $$ for broadband, better roads, rural development, etc.

They ask your age and your birth date. I will give them my age. Not so sure I will give them my full name either. To much info given to who knows. I feel that the Census is a "Count" of the people. They don't need such personal information.

I agree. My past study of the census's confidentiality pledge and possible changes through "revisions", has me questioning IS MY INFO SAFE. Other's have questioned too and only get vague answers and lawyer double-speak. This is an interesting read on this subject:
