Re: 2005 Century C42L Turns over but does not start

It does have a lever fuel shut off near the fuel filter, but I need to check and see if it looks like it may have a solenoid shut off on the injection pump. The fuel lines on the injectors have been loosened and checked for fuel delivery during an engine crank over, and there appears to be no fuel flow, so I think your input has helped me learn a bit more, and I now think the fuel is shut off at the injection pump. Now hopefully I can gain some more info on that procedure.
Thanks

Question, How do you kill the tractor? Just turn off the key or pull a knob on the dash to shut down the engine?

Re: 2005 Century C42L Turns over but does not start

All I need to do to shut the tractor down is turn the key off.

Re: 2005 Century C42L Turns over but does not start

All I need to do to shut the tractor down is turn the key off.

Then you must have a fuel shutoff solenoid. That will be contolled by some kind of timer/controller controling a fuel shut off relay, as the solenoids take a large amount of current to operate. I know exactly how my Kioti operates but I don't know much about how you Kukje manufactured Century operates. There are different schemes, on mine the controller sends a 1 second pulse to the coil of the fuel relay, which operates and provides high current( about 32 amps) to the "pull" coil of the solenoid, then there is a low current about 3/4 of an amp 12 volt provided to the "hold" coil as long as the engine is running. Then when the key is turned off this "hold" voltage is removed and the solenoid spring pulls the solenoid back and the fuel rack is shut off. Again I don't know how yours works, but it is something like that, and until you solve this fuel solenoid, fuel relay, control circuit problem.. the tractor will never run.

Re: 2005 Century C42L Turns over but does not start

This sounds like a very good possibility of being my problem. I will now search for information on this system so I know where system parts are located and how to test them.
Thanks so much for this information!
Tom

Your welcome Tom, I would start by locating the fuel shutoff solenoid on the injection pump, making voltage measurements, and tracing wires back. Of course a workshop manual with pictures and voltage measurements and a good schematic would go a long way. Good luck

Re: 2005 Century C42L Turns over but does not start

Sounds like that will be my next step. As far as a quality manual that actually includes information that would be helpful, "unlike the one I got with the tractor", I would LOVE to find one, but I am finding, "that actually finding" anything on this rig, does not look too promising. If you or anyone out there know of any good manual sources for this 2005 Century C42L, I could certainly use any good leads.
Great start with this forum so far, I am happy to have found, and joined it.
Thanks again,
Tom.

Do you have a Branson, dealer? If so, I would start there. or you could search on e-bay, there are a lot of tractor manuals there. If you cannot find a workshop manual, that really complicates the job. Even though I live in "Branson", I cannot help much with Century/Branson tractors.

Re: 2005 Century C42L Turns over but does not start

No Branson around hear, just a few "general equipment" shops and dealers. I've called a few of them for other inquiries in the past and even they have a tough time finding anything. Generally they pretend to care about your inquiry, and then come up with some lame answer that basically means: "I don't care about your tractor or it's problem, please leave as I don't have time for this".

Before you dive into complicated troubleshooting check the fuel filter and fuel in the tank. Fuel gage might show fuel when tank is empty.
