Oil & Fuel Century fuel problem???

My neighbor recently bought a Century tractor. I think it is a 3035. He was out brush hogging and started to loose power. It would start up and idle just fine but as soon as he tried to move it would just die out. He thought that maybe it was the fuel filter so he changed it. This did not help. He removed the fuel cap and noticed some pressure in the tank. Thought that maybe it was air- locking. He drilled a hole in the cap to see if maybe the vented cap was broke. This helped a little. He kept playing around and finally found the problem. Somehow the fuel shutoff valve was turned almost all the way off. He opened the valve and away he went. No more problems. He can not figure out how the valve got turned. So if any of you guys have this problem you might just want to check it out. He thought that maybe over time the valve vibrated shut. Simple fix to a confusing problem. Just thought I would share.

Haven't experienced that one yet. I've had the fuel cap fall off, then after buying a new one, found the old one. And I've had branches pull off my fuel line more then once. Now I keep some spare hose clamps and a length of hose.

One aggressive branch will find a weekness in any tractor. I've had them twist and turn there way past skid plates, around the frame in inbetween the starter up the block just to find the weekest fitting on the engine, and break it off!!!
