Still looking for a certified FOPS. Received much good info in the past, but forgot to ask a basic question: Does anyone know if Kubota makes/sells a Certified FOPS for the L3130? If they do, price?
My local Dealer hasn't got back to me yet.
Thanks.

I hope someone comes up with an answer for you. With all the posts on tree shears and logging winches I've been surprised that there is no ongoing discussion about this.

I want to add a winch on my B7800 but I'm leary of banging around in the woods without something to protect my head.

I know I could weld something up that would protect me, but I'm sure the ROPS police would have plenty to say about how I had compromised my rollover safety /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

It would be nice to have a factory alternative, even if I just used it for a model. I've thought about copying Henro's but I'm not sure how the front edge (over the steering wheel) would change the rollover geometry.

Fold Over Protection System.

I had my ROPS on and got tired of hitting trees etc. So it is now on the garage wall.

The only way to get a FOPS would be to buy an L39TL. There is no FOPS for the L series except on the TBL industrial models
(L39TLB, L48TLB).

There is also a FROPS or Folding Rollover Protection...

Okay, so it's a folding ROPS, like on my BX22.

Thanks for the explaination

Paul (and Mike),

The way I understand the acronymns:

A FOPS is Falling Object Protective Structure. It has 4 posts and a substantial roof, and protects in case of roll over OR falling objects.

A Folding ROPS (Roll-Over Protective Structure) is a two post system that folds and protects in case of roll over - as long as it's not folded.

A regular ROPS or a Folding ROPS can have a canopy attached to protect from sun, rain and maybe some lightweight falling objects, but a canopy would not make either one a FOPS.

oh, I thought wrong I guess. That it was like the normal ROPS just folds 180 degree.

Thanks.

Is a folding ROPS legal? I know that I have one on my L seris and it has an OHSA tag on it , but do the insurance companys reconize them as a legal structure.
