chain guard?

Nick's pictures look better than my store-bought Land Pride chain guards...and I bet a whole lot less expensive. Wider coverage and longer chains. Having chains mounted far enough out in front of the cutter is key....I bent the angle iron holding mine by running into a stump. This lowered the chains into the reach of the cutter blade and we had a concert that sounded like bolts in a blender. Guy in a body shop took a big hammer to it and straightened it out in about 10 whacks. But having it I find alot less debris around my feet and fewer projectiles dinging off the underside. Chains on the back protect the dog who is usually somewhere off in the bushes. Seems odd that they even sell the cutters without these as standard.

Yes, my king kutter is a 5' I welded my chains to a pretty heavy angle iron and then welded on 4 6" long tabs to the angle iron. I welded the tabs to the front lip of the deck of the mower with about a 3" gap between the angle iron and the deck edge. That holds the chains out there far enough so they catch every thing that flies but also doesn't get pulled into the mower. Have seen and heard a lot of stuff getting knocked down by them before they flew out of the mower. I often mow down prickly ash and basswood suckers around my woods and the tend to chew up nicely. Good luck building yours.

I didn't want to weld on the mower itself, so I used existing bolt holes in it, and bolted the angle iron to the mower with washers for spacers to hold it far enough from the mower.

"Agricultural Only" areas ?
