Chain Harrow or Disk for Overseeding Grass

CHARLZ is probably right; if you don't eliminate the competition first, you're probably wasting your money on seed.

Most of the pasture grass probably is fescue and other common lawn grasses. If so, it would be a waste of time to kill it all and start over.

If you recently built the house meaning the lawn area hasn't been routinely cut short then I would use the broadcast method. As mentioned cut it as close as you can and seed then water it. With regular mowing you might be suprized how much better that pasture grasss will look.

What do you use to mow the lawn? I use a spike tooth harrow to drag pastures with.
