Chain Harrow ???

/ Chain Harrow ??? #21
I have a 2 section, 4x4' unit, which the supplier called a "flex harrow", but which is the same as that which most commenters have. One issue with these is when your field contains other debris, like branches, tall weeds, blackberry canes, etc. They get stuck into the mesh and pretty soon they accumulate leaves, pulled up sod and weeds, etc. Then you have to stop and wrestle with pulling up the mesh and cleaning it out. I know a rigid spike harrow will also catch the same stuff, but at least you can lift up or tilt the whole unit and clean it off faster.
The sections have hooks on the front and back to connect to a pipe bar, or to another section. The hooks in back also tend to fill up with field debris.
Finally, the manure (or gopher mounds, etc) have to be pretty soft (and not frozen...) or the harrow with just ride up and over it -- a rigid harrow will cut thru it better.
I've seen rotary harrows that revolve from ground contact offered by FleetFarm, and also at a website that supplies riding arena equipment -- they always interested me, but I'm "stocked up" with various ground prep hardware, and can't justify any more.
