Chain Hooks on Loader

Guys how do you attach the chain to these grab hooks as the hook seems too big to fit through the chain, Is there some sort of adaptor or something.

The hook doesn't go in the chain, the chain goes into the hook. One link sits in the hook and the links on either side, sitting at a right angle to that link, lock the chain in place.

Yup, just drop the chain on top of the hook and the next two links keep it from moving.

Thanks. With the addition of them swiveling with the load, it's the only way I'd ever have them on my bucket with the added advantage the pull is no longer on the bucket. Not to mention, if I ever wanted to put a differant type of hook, I'd just pull a pin and do so.

I went with Bolt-on's, as I have a load bar going on the top of the bucket later and did not want to grind hooks off. After the bar is on, they will bolt to that.

Renforcements are always a good idea, and another requirement for the load bar anyway...

At first I was going to do chain hooks, however I wanted to be able to hook brush, roots, and many other items around the property, which these do rather well and chain hooks would not.

I may add a set of chain hooks to the load bar later on, however these are staying as well. I have a set of chain hooks that fit over these hooks and at the ends of most sections of chain that I use

How bad do they rattle and vibrate?? with that type of set up. I like how they swivel.

there are 3 different T-post sheaths in the photo.... because there are different length T-posts. You want the sheath to be the length of the post and just stop a couple of inches above the spade... or where you determine you want ground level to be. Sheath is simply proper diameter pipe with butt welded on the end to close it off.

Purpose of sheath is two-fold.... provide a flat surface for the bottom of FEL to press against (top of T-post is kinda slippery)....and to prevent it from bending (beyond hitting the side of the sheath).

I welded on some handles. BEWARE... if you hit a rock and continue to downpressure the assembly, you WILL raise the front wheels off the ground...and this is an unstable situation...just watch for it and you will soon learn when the t-post has been driven in all it will drive.

I took a square piece of 3/8 thick tubing, about the size a class IV trailer hitch would slip into, welded that to the top of the bucket for extra support, then weld 3 hooks to that. It works very good.
