Security & Theft Chain or Wire Rope for Security ?

I bought some land down the road from my house a few years ago. I got in the habbit of roading the tractor over to work on it, as it took the smae amount of time to road it, then to load it up.. drive over and unload it.

I got tired of loosing an hour a doy of work, so i went over to mee thte neighbors. Eventually i was parking the tractor in their pasture over the weekends.

worked great while I was discing and planting the pasture.

Take one or more wheels off and take them with you. A thief may be prepared with burglery tools, but unless they have a big tow truck or some spare tractor wheels handy, moving tractors around without wheels is a pain in the butt.

Plus it makes the machine look like non-working junk put out in the pasture to rust instead of a functional machine to steal.

My uncle used to do that with his boat trailer. Boat never got stolen. Plenty of other stuff padlocked in or to the boat got stolen like the motor, battery, fishing tackle, etc, but they never drove away with the entire trailer and boat.

Lotsa' good & usable ideas...

I will get friendly with the neighbors (at least 2 who can see my place)... and offer to do some tractor work for 'em if they need it...
...and certainly a few beers ! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'll ask 'em to call the police if they see anyone on my property... and I'll let the police know this too...
