Mark, I thought about replacing the chaps as well. I think I will have my mother in law (seamstress) see if she can repair them adequately--they were $50. I should also replace the bike helmut (crack in the styrofoam).

I use THIS for head, eye, ear protection. I have two of these (one for my oldest son also) that we have used reguarly for 3+ years. They are great for weed cutting, chain sawing or any task potentially dangerous to the head.

I took a look at one of these (Stihl brand) at the dealer. The hearing protection was uncomfortable. My wife says its because I have a large head (true, goes with large body).

I'd like to get one, but don't want one I won't wear.

Should you want one, you can get the same thing without the hearing protection part of it. FYI.
