When my 16' bumper trailer was being built, I saw a gooseneck there with a box between the uprights with a screen bottom. On the way home, I called back & had them fabricate a box between the "V" of the tongue on mine, screen bottom & lockable hinged lid. When closed, it also makes a good step!

Initially I wanted to hang my stuff as CaseGuy shows, but concerned about someone wanting to steal all of it, so unless I can figure a way to make it secure, I will likely go with a lockable underdeck storage box. The only thing with that is I'd like to hang my ratcheting binders so will likely need to weld some steel inside to attach the binders to. The chain can be layed down, or put in plastic containers to keep organized. Well, thanks for the tips, if anyone has any photos of their tool boxes for binder storage, I would love to see them. Thanks.

This is the closest pic i can find as to what I did on my box. Sold my 40' trailer about a year ago so I cant get pics of it. This one has a tray, mine I just welded flatbar to hang the hooks of chain and I did 1 hook of the binders.

This is the style I had built in the neck and had it pad locked when everything was stolen. They were able to pry hard enough to bust the lock.

We expanded the width of the deck out to the width of the fender and welded on a box for straps, chains, boomers, jacks, etc. The photo of the other side of the trailer where the crane is mounted better depicts how the deck was expanded. It also shows an attachment point on the front of the extra deck for a trailer jack or drop leg in order to stabilize the trailer when lifting with the crane. I think that was overkill on my part. The trailer has 7,500 pound axles and so far I have not lifted anything heavier than a box blade with the crane and the trailer did not budge even without the stabilizing jack.
