Been plowing a couple of times now with my rig and have 4 link ladders on turfs. BOY THEY SURE RIDE ROUGH, nuff to shake you out of the cab at higher speeds. Looked to buy extra crossers and they are more then i paid for the chains from the same place i bought them???

Don't know why that should be, but you would be much happier with the 2 link, no better traction just way better comfort.

I made all of my chains from surplus, I have 4 link now on the rear on my primary snow machine (2 link on front), I don't drive it much except in the snow during the winter, so I have been able to tolerate it, but I'm thinking of filling in between to make them 2 link. I think I have enough surplus chain to do it.

I would shop around for bulk chain and cut and splice as needed to fill yours in, especially if it's bothering you already.

Good luck, JB

Thanks jb, any links to where i can buy bulk twist link chain. Ive looked but found none.

I don't have any link, I found mine locally in a closed up warehouse. But I wouldn't think it should be that hard to find.

Shipping will add considerably to the cost I'm sure.

I wonder if it would be cheaper for you to just sell yours for a small loss and just buy a new set of 2-link chains?Stick your chains on craigslist for a decent price and you could probably sell them on the first day.

I'm fine with the 4 link ladder chains...maybe I just have more padding on my butt. I do run on gravel more then pavement though.
Just be advised if you think the 4 link chains are heavy, you'll be near doubling the weight with the 2link chains.
