Stihls newer than ~20 years or so have one way vents in the fuel tank. Air can get in but not out. I assume other brands are similar.

Opening the fuel cap (carefully) will let any pressure out. Also if you know the saw's been shaken around a lot, use less (or no) choke when starting it. Even if it hasn't been shaken, I turn off the choke after 2-3 pulls.

My Makita/Dolmar behaves the same way so I assume they also have a valve.
