stihl ms 362 v husky 460 which one is the buy? I find the 460 &don't like the primer on it. I think there should not be one on a prosaw.
In my many decades of experience the Stihl saws are more reliable and stay in tune better than a husky.
Could you explain this? I have owned stihl and husqvarna. But only the newer up to date stuff in last 2 decades. Maybe this was something from the past?
Stihl 084 x 4, 066 x 2, MS660, MS361, 200T, 020T, 011av, forgot 026 x 2
Husky 3120 x 2, 372 x 8, 365 x 2, 362, 357, 55, 346 45cc, 346 50cc x2, forgot some 262xp x 2, 272
And never a problem with any saw make holding a tune. Stihl, Husky, Solo, Dolmar, Echo, Poulan, Partner, Jonsered, Redmax. Thats what I dont understand.
So saws 40 years ago have a problem or what?
I'd go with the Stihl, as I've heard very good things about them from people I know who have used them, and I had a Husqvarna a while ago and it was worse than useless.
+1 IMHO, the Stihl MS362 to Husqvarna 460 is not an apples-to-apples comparison. Can't speak to the Stihl, but I wouldn't buy a Husky 460. I like Huskies, but only buy the "XP" pro models. They are all really good, as are the Stihl pro models. I think the brand matter much less than picking a pro model from whatever brand's lineup.

I tell ya, I absolutly hate it when people say "get brand x because I had a brand Y saw and it was junk"
Get real. ALL saw manufactures make LOW GRADE HOMEOWNER SAWS that most of us consider JUNK. INCLUDING the beloved STIHL.
People that say they had a husky that was junk and a stihl that was great are probabally comparing a $180 husky 136 (homeowner model) to a $350+ Stihl 260 (pro grade).:confused2: Just makes me sick.
That like driving a ford crown vic and saying you will never own a chevy because you had one that was junk. And then you find out the chevy they had was a cavalier:confused2:
To the OP.....You are comparing apples to oranges here. And a BIG price difference as well. That husky is <$450 and that stihl is $650+.
To be fair, compair that stihl to a 357XP or a 562XP, or even a dolmar PS6400 if you have one around. THOSE are the prograde saws. IF that is what you want.
If you DONT want to spend the $$$ and only want an average homeowner saw, compair that 460 to a stihl MS310.
Keep the comparisions apples to apples please:thumbsup:
I'm looking to buy another chain saw, am very partial to Stihl, do not have a problem with a little extra money for a quality product. Mostly limbing, some small tree felling, and around the place occassional use. What Stihl model in the $300-$350 range should I buy, I really don't need more than a 16'' bar, no more than 18" bar; have some physical limitations. tks for replies.
