So your tractors water seperater base doesn't have lever(ITEM 1) with positions A & B similar to most Kubota tractors I've seen?
I was a bit confused when you mentioned the valve.

It does have that lever, is that where the screen you speak of is located
Go with the easy answer first. When I had the same thing happen on a similar Kubota, I learned I turned the fuel shutoff lever the wrong way. Fuel only flows with the lever pointing one way and I had it pointing 180 degrees off.

Not sure if yours is set up this way but I'll bet it is. If not, it's air in the lines.

I checked that the lever was in the open position when I began the starting process.
Just a thought... You may be chasing the initial (occasional) problem, which has now become terminal/permanent.
Yikes, I hope not.

Usually they are self bleeding. In the old days you would have to crack each injector line, crank it over till fuel came out, than repeat for each one. Normally you don’t have to do that any more.

Id disconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter, the one coming from the tank, and make sure fuel flows freely.

Another possibility is the lift pump. There is usually a small pump that get fuel to the main injection pump. It could have a broken wire, blown fuse, or need replaced. You can usually hear it clicking if you turn the key but don’t start the tractor.
Lift pump is only 2 years old so likely it's ok. I will have to start tracing fuel flow path.

My fuel control valve on M4900 was held in place with a phillips head screw. I removed screw & pulled valve out to discover clogged screen. I cleaned screen then reinstalled valve & engine operated fine until I traded for a M7040. I've also read that passages in water seperater housing being clogged blocking fuel flow.

My thought also. He had this problem before changing the filter.

I can check that easily, thanks

You're very welcome. IIRC the tiny screen isn't listed in Kubota parts schematics

Could you take a pic of that screw. The lever on my separator has no screws on or around it.

I didn't mean that it's un-repairable. You just may want to re-examine your initial diagnosis of a plugged filter.

No sweat, but I did not diagnose a plugged filter, just figured after 500+ hrs on it, I should change it
