Changing filter?

Just did the 200Hr at 225Hrs on L3130GST by changing filter and just catching the draining oil and reusing. Was supprised at the metal sludge on the magnet on the filter and how hydraulic performance increased, at 50Hrs the oil was darker and it did need changing then, if anyone tells you different you need to find somebody else for service. The Kubota recomended intervals are pretty accurate as to how dirty the oil is on all my equipment so far.

I agree Mr Brown unless the owners manual says different. I changed out all my fluids and filters at 50 hours as per the manual and which I thought was the most critical with all the metal shavings in the break in period.
Just changing the filter leaves all those
metal shavings in there.
Change the fluid too an get them out of there.

If you leave the filler plug and the dipstick in very little wll run out. I did it on my BX and only lost the oil in the filter.

I just did my 50 hour service this weekend. The UDT fluid looked poor and the filter was plugged with stuff that looked like what might come out of your dryer. I've never seen such a plugged filter in my life.

The udt oil looked like there were granules in a choloidal suspension.

I would change it all the first time. After that, I'll change the filters frequently and the fluid every other time.

If you do it like I did (L4330), after you finally break the filter free (they are usually on TIGHT), the filter will spin right off, then some modest amount of fluid will begin draining while you grab the new filter, and only then will you discover that some long-ago-hit branch has mashed one of the rigid hydraulic lines so that it JUST BARELY interferes with threading the new filter on.... starts to cross-thread.... more fluid pouring out.... starts to cross-thread a second time... MORE fluid pouring out.... try to pry the line outta the way with a stick... stick breaks... MORE fluid pouring out. Finally got wife to slightly pry the line out of the way and got the new filter on. Only lost about 2 1/2 gallons. Of $$$ SUDT! #&^%$**!

The manual called for filter only on my B2320. I asked two local dealers how they did it and both said that they only performed filter change on the 50 hour service. Very little metal and the fluid looked good. Others may disagree, but I saw nothing that would justify the added expense. JMO...

I just had to change my non-OEM filters to Kubota filters w/o draining the fluid.
Just have the replacement filters nearby and unscrew one and screw the other one as fast as you can.
I lost around 1/2 gallon.
Please use OEM filters for the Hydro (see my post on noisy hydro pump).

Good luck.
