Changing it up again - BX23S to B2601HSD

When I bought my BX23, I needed to be able to mow and wanted to be able to do some digging. I've done some significant projects with it, mainly trail work, fixing a couple culverts, installing some French drains, etc. I actually thought I'd be using the backhoe a lot and have little use for the FEL, but I use the FEL a lot.

That said, there are times when I get into something and get the impression I need a more serious tractor. However because I need to be able to haul it and get it into some tight spaces, I can't go bigger than a B2601 or B2650.

As I've mentioned, the speed of the fel's curl/dump was making me batty. If that was the only issue I still would have found a way to justify the change. Aside from the annoyance of sitting there in sub-zero temperatures while waiting for the load of snow to finally dump, it makes "trick shots" impossible. You know, like giving a large rock a quick flick so you can get the bucket under it, rolling/coaxing an object along like a log, etc.

FYI I wasn't condemning the BX sized tractor as a "toy". I have done a lot of work with my similar sized GC2300 and I know a lot of others have done a lot more than me. They are amazingly capable for the size.

Are you running at rated revs? At 3300 revs mine dumps OK.

There were times my BX seemed pretty slow when working the FEL. When trying to do careful work it was fine, but when moving loose materials it did seem slow, even when revved up.

JohnThomas and I probably are up there on Kubota trades that some would roll their eyes. Myself, I went from my first B7500 to a B7510 to a BX2660 to a B2620 to my current BX2670. Each had reasons. My personal reasons. While I use my BX for everything and anything, I do agree I cuss at my BX all the time because it does not have two pumps and the loader reaction is slow unless tached up full speed. I’d love the features of the BX80 series, but don’t want the decrease in loader capacity, although my primary use is mowing. Sometimes I pass my picture window when on the BX and think “I need a B2601”. At 6’-5” and 250#, the BX looks like I’m riding a toy. But, it still ain’t no Sears Crapsman.

My BX2370-1 I bought July 2017 wouldn't start, not even a click and battery showed 2.6 volts sooo off to Barlows to get a new warranty battery which I did and saw this black RTV900XT in the showroom and visited Steve Barlow before leaving and after signing the papers for a new 2019 RTV900 (Orange :) ) and agreeing for him to take my RTV1140CPX I've had for 8 years (Yes, Barlows is going to have a 200 hour RTV1140CPX owned and maintained by me for 8 years coming in for sale or trade) I left then remembered I forgot to get my new battery off the parts counter and turned around and picked it up, took it home, installed it and mowed the sides of some property I'm selling and now I think the number is 26 Kubotas in 15 years. :D:cool2:

Well you have me beat. Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to just own one Kubota of every model?
