Changing oil in injector pump-FarmPro 2420

The only other suggestion I can make to get most of the oil out would be to warm up the tractor then try sucking the oil out of the dip stick hole with a turkey baster or large syringe and a piece of hose. That would be better than nothing. Its still going to leave a little oil on the bottom and that is usually where the nasty stuff lays.

I crawled under the tractor with my camera and took a couple of pictures and hopefully you can see what I mean.....no drain plug!!!

I also looked at the side of the housing that faces the engine block and nothing there either. Didn't really expect anything but had to look anyway.:)

Chris, I was going to do just what you suggested (unless somebody comes up with a better solution) and take my wife's turkey baster and suck as much as I can out of it. I guess it's better than nothing but like you said...all the crud will be still at the bottom. Maybe I can do it several times after an hour of operation and catch it still in suspension.

In the meantime, thanks to everyone for offering help...I greatly appreciate it!

Jim

Just like mine Jim, no drain, either on the fuel injection pump or the governor. I change oil using a Mityvac. Don't worry, it will suck the crud out too.

Bob,

Thanks for the tip....I have a Mityvac in my cabinet but didn't think about using it! I tried the turkey baster but couldn't make it bend enough to fit into the fill plug opening or the dipstick opening. But while I had it close to the fill port; I squeezed the bulb and it actually "blew" the old oil out of the dipstick hole. Not very scientific and not very clean but it did get most of the old diluted oil out.

But now I will dig out my Mityvac and use it per your suggestion. I usually use it just for bleeding brakes and haven't had it out in so long that I forgot I still have it!! After changing out all the fluids and using the tractor for a couple of hours yesterday; it's running very good and all systems are working fine.
