Don't know what a tooth spanner is -- is it something like the attached swimming pool filter wrench? If so, there is no room to get anything horizontal around the filter. The jawed vice grips I used had to come up from below the FEL mounting arm at a 45 degree up angle, catch a couple of the teeth on the fuel filter (not 180 across from each other), and turn only about 1/4" at a time until it was loose enough to turn by hand.
I'm too busy with remodeling and improvement projects right now to spend any time improving the tractor, but one of these days, Real Soon Now, I'll take a look at re-locating the fuel filter to a more accessible position. It's mounted on a sheet metal bracket that could be mounted anywhere. Does anyone know if there are any problems with the filter being mounted lower than the injectors?
