That's great. Now that it's turned out well I bet you're glad you didn't decide to leave it in. Thanks for posting and telling us about your "screwup" in the first place. The more than 2000 views on this thread should give you some indication of how many people this WON'T be happening to.:D

It's good to see a Happy Ending. I know I would have been worried sick if it happened to me on a new tractor. I'm happy you found the fix without firing up the tractor and mashing all the plastic. It would always be at the back of your mind when something would go wrong... I'm happy for you.

Assuming the vac can suck the oil and assuming the part really is in there and is floating (and not actually on the ground, having rolled under a tool box just out of sight near your tractor or something) ....

Wouldn't that be a hoot!

I don't know why but I feel better now for you. :) nice job recovering that POS. Misfortunes like that happen, it's not stupid. Doing the same thing twice would be stupid.

Just found and joined this forum. GREAT place!!! Rick...congrats on your fix....I'm glade it turned out to be one of the easier fixes. I just bought a L4400 & FEL so I followed this close with a lot of interest. I'm in South Cent KS.

Too much junk to list.

First post, welcome to TBN then. You'll find a lot of information here no doubt. :)

Personally i think you should drop it back in there, and then try each and every suggestion to see what does work. That way we'll know for sure in case you can't grab it through the PTO shaft.

:D

Great job on the fix! My concern is why would a dealer/mechanic not have that solution. It seems pretty obvious that was the answer all along.

Disclaimer: I didn't have the answer and I am certainly not knocking thunderworks. I just don't know why people that work on these things wouldn't know the answer.
