Charging voltage

/ Charging voltage #11
I often plow snow at night because I am busy during the day and I plan installing a couple work lights. I will have to check output of the dynamo. It looks like it would be real easy to install a small single wire Delco alternator.

Dynamo is 10 amps at best at full engine rpm's.

Consider single wire DENSO in lieu of Delco.

Do not go overboard on output as this just creates other wiring problems. 35 amps is a big step up.

Even GM is using DENSO on their big cars.

The B7800 comes standard with the dynamo with a 13-14 amp output.
1. How can one tell if they have the 'dynamo' or teh alternator?

2. "Measured voltage at the tractor battery ..."

How do you measure the charging voltage? Put a voltmeter across the battery terminals while @ 2,000 RPM?

So, if the meter reads 12 volts when the tractor is not running the voltage should increase to 13 volts or more when the tractor is running?

voltage needs to be over 13 regardless of rpm when running. just measure at the battery
