Wireless is all I have got. AT&T cell Tower to the Mobley. Wi-Fi from Mobley to the computer.

Just fired off the new Netgear LB1120.

First of all the sim card holder is a certified POS. The door came off when I pulled back on it and bent the two little tabs inside the chassis. I fought it for an hour before I figured out how to straighten it enough to get the sim card in and retained. The box had no manual and the pdf manual I downloaded had no pics of the operation. If you get one of these make sure and watch a You Tube video on how to install the sim before you try.

My speed test indicates about half the speed I normally get from the Velocity however I usually have the Velocity tie wrapped to the blinds up in the window. The Netgear box is probably too bulky to place in the same manner so I just have it sitting in the window sill. Maybe when the external antenna arrives I can put that in the window and get better results.

The speed is adequate for streaming so if it remains stable without having to restart the ting all the time I can live with it.

EDIT: Speed has decreased below acceptable. Down to barely getting 1 Mbps download. I wish I had that external antenna but it seems to be coming on a camel train so this unit may get returned before I get to try that.

EDIT2: Hung it on the blinds like I had the Velocity and it got back up to 1.8 Mbps down. I usually get around 13 Mbps down with the Velocity. The Netgear started out at 6-7 but declined rapidly.

Running a speed test wireless is going to give you skewed results. Turn the wireless off and then run a wired test for actual results.

Running a speed test wireless **MAY** give you skewed results. But it can be just fine...

If you have a solid wi-fi connection between your test device (phone/laptop) and your router and your ISP connection isn't super-fast gigabit or something then using wi-fi is very reliable and accurate. But sure, if you have 2 bars of wi-fi signal and are trying to test capability of a 100Mb/s ISP connection then you may well saturate your wi-fi connection before hitting your ISP's throughput limit. For instance, I have an AC1900 router (capable of a max of 600Mb/s wireless speed) and an ISP that has never tested faster than 60Mb/s even from a wired device. My wi-fi signal doesn't have to be 100% solid to get my normal 15-30Mb/s through it.

Not everyone has n ethernet connected computer to test with these days. Knowing the important aspects of the path between your wi-fi endpoint device and the speed test server is key to knowing whether your test accurately reflects your ultimate ISP speed or not.

My ZTE Velocity was connected wireless to my GL-AR300M router. I had run it wired and wireless with no determinable difference in speeds other than when it needed to be restarted. The two units were in close proximity. I got the same speed results on the far side of the house from the router as I did direct from the modem.

Well for me, an actual Broadband Installer with the #2 Telco in the country I can tell you wireless speed tests are a crap shoot. Our M&P's don't even allow for wireless testing, so there's that. Our testing procedures with our Gig service calls for testing at the ONT before the router to test actual speeds. Yes, even just running Gig through a router can give inconsistent results. I typically see wireless results in the 200 to 300 mbs on our gig service. Different routers will give different results. Netgear seems to be a top contender. Speeds under 100 mbs will give better results but that's 10/100 not 1000

My Mobley sim is locked, would not work in another device.

I dunno what else to do but go back to my Velocity.

The Netgear LB1120 I bought will not connect above 3G. When I first fired it off it was getting about 6 Mbps down and quickly declined to around 1 or less. Subsequent tests all remained near the 1 Mbps mark. Searching for solutions online looked like you might could change the APN settings but I found no way to change other than 3 dropdown choices in that menu. One of the choices did not work at all the the other two produced the same results.

This is one of the better speed tests from the Netgear.

I put the sim back in the Velocity and got this. BTW I am using wireless to connect to my router with the Velocity. The Netgear only works wired.

My Mobley sim is locked, would not work in another device.

Same here, bought a spare Mobley without sim putting my 1st Mobleys sim in
it would not connect to the tower.
not going to mess with it unless the 1st Mobley dies.
Interestingly has a totally different GUI

Don't like this, cause I got a netgear on the way.
