Bummer. I knew it was always going to be a solution with a limited shelf life. Way too good to be true permanently. There are alternative solutions that work similarly from other providers but they cost quite a bit more (around $100/mo). At least if/when AT&T makes the Mobley useless to me I'm free to switch to another mobile phone provider. I like to switch every few years so I can spread out my hatred evenly...

So far so good on moving my Mobley sim to a Velocity. Connection has been more stable and is even working after the storm.

read the linked article,

BUT as Xfaxman said , his has not powered off since leaving it in the 30 minute setting.

Checked mine and it has also updated to the new firmware, has been on all morning with no shut downs

This is confusing because there have been times in the past where the Mobley would time out every 30 min. and did have to go into the menu and change to no time out.

Reading the power save description... has it changed??
from select on time to
(After vehicle is turned off, mobile hotspot will stay on for) which would mean the Mobley will look for a voltage drop?

If worse comes to worse may have to try what Sodamo did and use the sim in another unit, but if it will keep working all day on the 30 minute setting maybe no problem.

The Mobleys will shut down if the supply voltage drops below 11.5 volts also.

I did read the article in its entirety. I'm just saying that this is an action that likely signals that AT&T will put an end to the 'typical' use of the Mobley. Whether that happens immediately with this update or is just coming soon I don't know. But it won't last forever. I predict in less than a year the Mobley will no longer be what it is today.

New software version eliminates the "No Time Out" option. I had read about this on Howard Forums and had been checking to see if mine had been updated.

I turn my Mobley off every night and on when I get up in the morning. A few days ago it quit 30 minutes after I turned it on. I looked at the LEDs, power was on, Wi-Fi was off.

Powered off and back on, checked the software version, it had been updated from V1.0.1 to V1.0.3. I left it set at 30 minutes and it has never timed out again.

Tie a little computer fan on it with one of the blades trimmed. The movement should keep it from shutting off.

I came home the other day and both lights were out on my Mobley. Unplugged the power and powered back on and it has been fine ever since. Kinda weird. I thought it was smoked. My Version shows
VM6200V1.0.3

There's hope - AT&T now has HARMAN spark & Unlimited In Car Data for $30/month. Looks like a Mobley for $10 more.

That link didn't take me to anything that has that description. It showed me four plans, two unlimited and two limited, but neither unlimited plans was $30 and neither mentioned in-car data.

That post is gone - the more I looked into it AT&T is making it illegal to use as a hotspot outside your car. And it's speed is crippled. Try looking up Results for harman spark - AT&T Search
