cheap blitz 5 gal. fuel containers

You can still get the metal 5 gallon cans from Northern. Notice they have the regular screw on sealed type lid, (stored under the handle when you buy one). You can also get a better screw in type of nozzle that is not environmentally friendly and much more practicable. These are what I am using. Just the regular old jerry can.

blitz does make a nice 15 gal. container that works well, I have one. when I need to refuel in the field I put it in the loader bucket, and raise it up. It flows out like a siphon. I usually need more that 5 gal. at a time. This is what works for me, never likes standing on the tire and holding up 5 gallons of fuel.
I guess I'm just getting lazy.

The best time to do this is when your tires are covered in mud . Oh ya , and a flashlight
That's when you really find out that where not getting any younger, and those 5gal. cans are getting any lighter:D I need to not be so cheap and get a fuel pump, so the can can still be on the ground, and me not on top of the tire hanging on waiting for that one bad slip ( that I knows is coming one of these days) Every time I fuel up am swearing about that ..... can not pouring faster enough .

While holding my 5 gallon diesel jug, I have to make the large step up onto my tractor's floor board on that little spot in front of the HST pedal where there's only enough room for one of my feet, while trying not to hit my head on the canopy (hunched over the whole time), & trying not to slip off or drop the jug. And then the tractor's filler tube is just far enough away from me that I have to hold the jug out in front of me 6 or 8 inches, cantilevered; not something I can do for long with 35 - 40 pounds, or whatever it weighs when it's full.

It's a little bit of a workout.

I have a 6 foot step ladder that just fits over the front tire when opened. I step on the first rung then onto the little spot Beppington mentioned. It helps to have the can already sitting on the floorboard.

The problem is not the fuel container, but the gizmo spout. I remember you used to open the lid on a jerry can and pour the fuel in with a funnel. The sorry way these gizmo spouts work, they invite people to unscrew the spout and pour the fuel in the old way.

1*Thinking about a 50 gal. transfer tank that I can put on truck bed with forks to run to station and fill.
Then I will put in shop with a pump.

You don't have to put the transfer tank on your truck bed with forks to run to station and fill.
Just use the pump .

I never like Blitz even when they made them 10 yrs ago with the corrogated fill tube that went in the top they always leaked for me no matter what. But when they went to the hard black topped ones with the little yellow cap on them. They were not vented then but not safty, they vented through the throat as you poared. They could reverse the neck inside or out of the tank. These are my favorites. The new safty ones are not that bad, just super slow. I can get the tank inplace over my tractors fill hole then open the "switch" thing to let the fuel flow in,for the nest 10 mins!!, vs my old school one that spills out most of the time at first.
