I live about 30 minutes from the nearest Tractor Supply, so I stopped into Lowes to get 25 5/16 x 1.25" bolts with nuts and flat washers. I couldn't believe the total cost was ten bucks.

Call me a cheapskate, but this seems excessive.

Anyone have another source for less expensive fasteners?

I'm not sure 40 cents for each for a bolt, nut and washer is excessive. Tractor Supply is probably a little cheaper.

do you have Ace or True Value hardware anywhere close?
They're not as cheap as TSC, but still sell bulk bits & pieces by the pound.

Our local farmers coop has about the same prices as TSC on nuts and bolts.

Lowe's must figure their customers don't know any better.

TSC sells nuts and bolts by the pound.

The cheap nuts and bolts are $1.99 a pound...You can also get different size washers for $1.99 a pound.

I'm stocked up very well on all sizes. :D

Guess I made out okay then when I bought about a ton of surplus bolts, nuts and washers by bid for 150 bucks? I figured I would sell some off at a flea market or something but then you never know what you are going to need, ha!

I bought lag screws at a hardware store out in the country cheaper than I can get them at Lowe's. JC

Ace doesn't sell by the pound here. The various grades at TSC priced by the pound are a pretty good deal. Whenever I stop in I buy a couple of pounds of various fasteners to keep on hand. I hate running all the way to the store for a dang single bolt:(
My big regret was when TSC quit selling Metric fasterns by the pound, if I'd have known they were gonna do that I'd have bought a hundred pounds, you'd think with all the imported tractors they'd have kept on;)

A TON. ha ha ha. Are they all the same size?:D

As the others said, best deals around here are the farmers coop or TSC. We have a retail chain called Home Hardware (like Ace) that sells by the pound too. They are all quite competitive on pricing.

I just wish TSC had the lock-nuts by the pound.

I had to buy the lock-washers.. and I have 4lb. of them:D
