I got these weights for free from a co-worker (see attached Picture). I was planning to rig some sort of adapter that bolted onto the wheel rim, but when I looked closer I saw that the weights fit perfectly right on the axle.

I got the spring clip too for the dumbell and put it on the axle first. After I put the wheel back on I snugged the weights up against the wheel with the spring clip. I brought home almost 300 pounds worth of weights, and she's got another 200 pounds still in the shed that I'm going to try to get from her. I don't need all that weight, but it would be nice to have all the different sizes that were there.

That is great if the axle is long enough to accommodate the weights and the wheel. I don't think that the spring thing will be enough to keep the weights on given the shocks and vibrations that a tractor experiences. You might have to make a pipe sleeve with a nut welded on it to put a bolt through to tighten down on the axle. I know that I never have anything that easy. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Those are really NICE plates that go with an olympic bar! They must be the 45's. They also make solid 100's. You should be using them to keep in shape. Oh well, better used there than not at all.

By the looks of things I have enough axle to put four separate plates on each axle and still have clearance for the break levers, etc. As I was removing the wheel, etc. last night I discovered that this particular model tractor has two settings for the tire width. I have it set on the outer setting, so it gives me more room on the axle.

I have wondered how well the spring clips will hold the weights in place. I've decided to watch it and be prepared to put on a collar with a set screw or something similar if needed.

With the shape I'm in I won't need those weights for it to be a workout. The bar alone will be enough.

My thoughts exactly! They would be a nice addition to my home gym! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
