What a truck! This new truck is a haulers dream. It has upgraded the brakes to what we used to put on them aftermarket. They now have a built in brake controller to go along with the built in engine braking system with the transmission. NO more checking your shorts at the bottom of a big hill. The frame has been beefed up to the best in the industry and is now capable of hauling 17,000 pounds! The interior got a much needed makeover and now rivals that of any truck out there. It's more like a car interior rather than a truck complete with automatic climate control and steering wheel controls. On the SRW pickups the wheels were increased to 18" to accomdate the bigger brakes and 17" on the DRW trucks. HP and Torque are best of any truck at 325 hp and 570 lbs. torque. The front end has been completely redesigned and now has the tightest turning radius, coil springs, and a very smooth ride yet handles ruts and bumps like they were nothing. Ford has really raised the bar with this truck. I can hardly wait to see what Dodge and Chevy counters with. Competition is such a great thing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ordered a SRW F-350 CC LB 4x4 last week. Got the Lariat Lux. package, the integral brake controller, upfitter switches, back up alert, adjustable pedals, as well as 6.0 and torqueshift transmission. You're right, an new level has been set. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Only 570 ft/lb of torque? Cummins beats that by an easy 30ft/lbs /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'd sell my Dodge if I could get one of these with a Cummins in it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looking at the specs, they are nice trucks. I like the built in brake controller; all the companies should have done that long ago. The interior features are nice and all, but the working part of the truck is where it is...

Your message finally made the rim size dawn on me. I thought for some time, why the 15" and 16.5, and then change to 16, 17, 18, and 19" rims by all the makers over the last few years. Duh! If the brakes are bigger, the rim has to go around them /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You are right, the competition is great. Although there have been good trucks over the decades, I do not think there has ever been the caliber of what we have now, or the innovation. It will be interesting to see how all this shakes out if, as Tres_Crows mentioned, Toyota gets into the 3/4 ton market.

You mention too, the turning radius. I wonder when they will all break down and put 4-wheel steer on these things. Chevy did, but only on a select few 1/2 ton shortbeds. I want it on my long bed xcab /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

you can get 4ws on 2500s and 3500s by chevy actually, and its even a better system then on the 1500.

I like the diesel and had a powerstroke...but with the price of diesel over $0.20 MORE per gallon then super duper..I sold it after 4 years..

Nice truck but unless the duramax, cummins or powerstroke gets more in MPG to make up for the delta, no thanks.

Plus I feel ford is not there yet with their electrical like dodge (has the grid). I had more problems with GPR then I could count...

GPR, super duper, grid? I can say that if diesel is 20 cents more then premium (super duper?) then I am happy not to be a resident in the state of Massachussets unless premium gas is going for under $1.00/gallon. Show me a gas engine that has the power of the Cummins, Powerstroke or Duramax with a proportional cost per mile in fuel to operate and it may be a consideration. It does not exist out here in the West. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Glow Plug Replys sucked in my Powerstroke. Dodge has a heating grid which is a lot better then Ford's "wonder plugs". Never mind the BRIGHT idea of putting the GP (Glow plugs) under the valve cover. Nice design.:(

I never said anything related to power. Compare apples to apples and my Powerstroke was getting 19 MPG (summer fuel). I was just driving and NOT pulling. I can drive in another car and get 25 to 28 in the city...Boy, the diesel is real good in this application... NOT. The extra torque and hp are really helping.

As far as pulling sure, but you better be making money to offset the higher price..at least in MA.Sure diesel has MORE power but it will take LONG time to offset the huge delta in price..Example, a f350 gas is 30 and diesel is 35K. That is 5K delta. That is a lot of $$$$ to makeup or even break even...

I can buy gas for 1.65 to $1.95 and diesel just went down today to 1.99...In CT diesel is $0.12 MORE then super. it is about $2.21 per gallon.

Oh, Mass is spelled Massachusetts...I figure for all my Tax dollars I better know how to spell it..

"Oh, Mass is spelled Massachusetts...I figure for all my Tax dollars I better know how to spell it"

I have always been under the impression it was spelled Taxssachusetts. Your point about the GPR and grid makes sense, my glow plugs do go out on occasion on my old anemic 93 7.3L Ford. Other then that it has been pretty smokin reliable. I do like the simplicity of the Cummins design and lean towards it. I am now "hip" on the jetset vernacular. GRP = glowplug relay, super duper = premium or 91-92 octane. Grid = preheat on the intake manifold and delta = the change in or difference between.

I was not aware of that. Out here, the ad's said the 4-wheel steer was only on select 1500 models.
