Chevy Colorado --Motor Trend Truck of the year

IMO, the only difference in clearance in those pictures is the (easily removable) airdam under the front bumper.
If you look, the rocker panel/frame starts at the middle of wheels on both trucks, the Chevy just looks lower because of the airdam.

Looks matter. Most people will never drive down anything more than a dirt road. But they want a truck that looks like it can take you anywhere. The fact that GM decided to put that air dam on the truck is nobody's fault but their own. Sure it could be modified but so can any truck. But it's not going to help sell the truck, first impressions are final. Personally I think this is also the problem with the Tundra. The Tundra just doesn't look like it'll plow through a foot of snow.

Here's a pic without the lower air dam. The pilots we ran did not have it.

I saw one as I drive by a dealer this morning...The Colorado is surprisingly big...Didn't look like it sat low to me.

I'm holding out for the diesel. Its my next commuter. A crew cab with a little bed would be perfect for a commuter for me. My car has been good, but there are times that I need my truck at work, and I hate to get my big truck scratched or dented.

They have exceeded sale projections already. We are working 12 hr shifts and Saturdays to fill demand. I think the ground clearance is fine minus the lower air-dam strip. Talks of a factory lifted one w 33in tires is in the works also. Kinda like the S-10 ZR-2 package from 1998-2003. The first pic is stock minus the lower air dam. Zone already has a lift kit for the truck. I noticed they removed the air dam strip also. image-3972888270.jpg Colorado w Zone lift. image-1731953567.jpg image-1375824688.jpg

I've both the GMC and Chevy versions in crew cab 4x4. Chevy was $37825, GMC was $409xx. GMC had leather interior and chrome package.
