Off topic here, but I remember when the nearby Baltimore City PD tried the Ford taurus and they totally flopped as a police car. Front wheel drive just doesn't work for them.

...in order to continue using rear wheel drive patrol cars made by either Dodge or Chevrolet in the form of either the new Caprice or the Tahoe pursuit vehicles.

This is the first I learned of that Caprice PPV. Thanks for that. Let's hope a civilian version is made, although nothing will be as cool as the 94-96 Impala SS.

I seriously doubt that is the case. I think GM picked a task that they were better at. The gearing of the tranny is what did it for them. As you know with dealing with old trucks like you do gearing can do a lot.

I have been driving a Chevy C60 dump truck a lot here latly. It has a 4 speed and a 2 barrel 350 but get the job done with about 185 HP or something like that. Just slow as @^&#%#.

Chris

You know, I drive what I like as long as it will do what I want. For decades I was brand loyal to GM. They just burned me too many times. After running a Dodge for about 10 years, I can't say anything bad about them at all. I just felt like I wanted something different. This last time I made my choice before GM and Chrysler went belly up and blistered their investors, suppliers, workers and the tax payers. I'm glad I liked the Ford the best. To me, that's all that matters; it does all I ask, doesn't break and I like it better than the other brands.

I can't help but laugh at the people silly enough to fall for it and have bought Government Motors stock this 2nd time around after they literally lost EVERYTHING in the first go around. It's not hard for GM to claim a "profit" after they stole billions from their investors. For those who bought the "new GM" stock at $35 (or more) that first day, how are you liking it at about $33 a share and dropping now? Who is going to bail them out this time? No more games. I don't care what GM builds; based on what they did to the general public, I won't touch it. Besides, I personally don't care for their products.

I can honestly say that not one single "test" where GM 'wins' makes me even remotely want to buy their product. Sure, Ford's stock is down to around $16 a share, but GM's stock is for all intents and purposes $0 a share. With that the case, any "shootout" is meaningless to me.

I drive what I like. Any problem with that? I will never forgive Government Motors for ruining the lives of millions of people. I assume you just say "tough luck" to them?

I didn't say anything about them. I really don't care if you want to drive a Yugo..Your call. GM/Ford/Chrysler had more problems than anyone could count...Ford just mortgaged everything including the blue oval, literally, just before the credit collapse..Otherwise they'd have been no different. If something falls out under them they will never be able to handle the federal level debt they took on. I hope nothing but the best for all involved.

Bond holders and stock holders got hammered. Thank the Feds for that. GM and Chrysler just followed orders to survive. Sounds like you would be much happer if they just shut down. You're opinion, and I'm cool with that.

See, I'm not tossing caustic comments to you.

Very true. Please note; I never said Ford didn't take any money, they did. What they didn't do was file bankruptcy and rape millions of hard working Americans out of the money they placed with GM in their investments. True; all investments are at some risk. However, everyone, including the Government tried their best to "assure" the investors all would be fine so the investors wouldn't pull all their money out. If they didn't fool all the investors that way, I don't think the government could have printed enough money to keep GM going.

Am I bitter that I got taken by believing in GM (since that's all my family had driven for over 60 years)? You betcha I am. I'll keep my '62 Biscayne, '67 Camaro, and '73 Vette but that's it. IMHO, it was in 1974 that GM started their slide in quality and lived on their name for decades. As a matter of fact, I will have to change my statement. I'd still like to have another '70 Camaro with the factory 302ci engine, another '72 Chevelle and another '72 Chevy pickup. I just need to build another barn first.
