. Worms they pretty much just gobble down without much fanfare.

The other night we had some left over spaghetti noodles. I thought it would be fun to dangle the noodles in front of the chickens to see it they would have any interest (simulated worms). I almost lost a finger. Twice.

They attacked the spaghetti (and my fingers) like they had not eaten in weeks. Slinging it around the cage like it was going to bite them back. We had a ball.

Next time we have spaghetti, I'm going to ask my wife to cook some extra.

Tororider,

From the 1st photo, I was going to suggest you take that carton of eggs back to the store as some appeared to be cracked.:D

My favorite is when they play tag with treats, pretty funny to watch them chase each other around.

Who knew you could just grab some eggs from the store and throw them in the bator? Hehe

Three chicks out. 13 pipped and another zipped. This is fun.

Well, I am up to I think 14 hatched with another one looking to be close. It seems now everytime I go to check on them another 1 or 2 have hatched. Its pretty darn cool.

I think this may be a way to make a little money off the chickens. Sell young chicks, or if I can get a breeding group of the right kind of chickens you can sell them on ebay for decent money.

Tororider: You must be VERY proud papa. Nice job!

bmac: Any thoughts to putting a bug zapper from the rafters? Tried it one year and worked great. The zapped ones (bugs only) just fell down and the chics would just wait for them to fight over, funniest thing ever. Also, maybe just some alfalfa even in planters around the house. Chickens really love the greens. Or just about any edible herbs.

Another milestone. Roof shingled today. Not by me - I bit the bullet and paid a roofer to do it. Took him and a helper about 3 hours. Would have taken me 3 days. As our temps have escalted this week (low to mid 90's), this project would have taken its toll on me.

4720 Owner - No plans for a bug zapper as I don't have electrical service to the coop. Does sound like a good idea, though.
