Getting pine needles out of roof gullies and other traps is definitely a chore, but an important one. FWIW: I have moved to cleaning the gutters from the ground with an extended nozzle for my leaf blower. They are brand specific, but there are universal ones, too.

(No, that's not me...)

I also use the long nozzle from the ground to blow leaves off the roof.

All the best,

Peter
I have the deck on one end of the house. So up only 1/2-way on the 6ft ladder. Then with the power washer, blast 80ft for straight gutters each side. It gets squeaky clean. If it's really dry, the leaf blower, nut it takes longer. LOL

Now, the down gutters, leaf blast them upwards from the base.

So, back OT, I'm really attracted to this cleaning method. 50% of our hoe heating is with wood. We knock off all bark and are really selective with the quality of wood burned to keep the creole levels to a minimum. For a Chimney Sweep guy to come out, it's $250 a pop !

This is not a savings heating with wood then. DIY safety to clean makes the savings even better!

Nice video, the only problem with it is, where would one buy such a kit? No links to what the thing is even called. Oh well.
Here is link you could buy it or research for better price on E bay, Amazon.

We have a 12/12 pitch roof. No getting up there so I brush from the bottom up. First time everyone else was ready for a sooted mess inside, but not the case at all. Wait for a cool day outside, so fine dust travels "up" and out with no downdraft. Also use the leaf blower for gutters, just stay upwind of the plume.

It won't work with my stove, as it has some type of blanket on top of the combustion chamber

I also go up from the bottom. After disconnecting the stove and taking the stove pipe outside for cleaning I put the brush in the chimney, duct tape a trash bag over the opening, cut a small hole for the cleaning rod, then go to town.

Are you just eating ash and stuff the whole time you use it?
Not at all... Ash should be removed before cleaning and creosote is not flying while cleaning as you saw in the video.

It costs only less than $50 and makes me a life saver

What else can I ask for?

I got one a few years ago from Amazon since I have a flexible liner and the cap is clamped to the liner... plus like said above I have a 12/12 roof and until a year ago my overhead power was within arms reach of the only place to put a ladder next to the chimney... when I use it I use the cordless drill and turn it slow, the soot just goes straight down with very minimal mess...

Another happy user. Got one two years ago. Easy and safe. Even if it only lasted one cleaning I would buy another, but there is no descernable wear so far. Used it twice.

Wife asked me just the other day if we should get the chimney cleaned. I told her the same thing I told her last time, about 10 years ago.
NO!!
We haven't burned more than a dozen fires since 1984 when we moved into the house. She watches too many TV commercials.

As you can see in the photo, there's no way to clean the SS chimney from the roof, nor would I want to given the steepness (the brick chimney is no longer in use), but there's a cleanout cover on the bottom. I'll just throw a tarp on the ground and use an 8" round brush with fiberglass rods to clean it and all the mess stays outside. Inside pipes come apart easily enough to bring outside, but generally stay relatively creosote-free.
