Chinese built 1-ton plus excavators.

These are so neat; there was one locally for $5k, it was sold before the missus could show me the ad.

These could have many uses for the small property DIY'er; I'm not in the trades, but I've got a heavy equipment operation course under my belt, and I'm sure I could find a lot to do with one of these little machines.

Mine is proving handy. Based on comments and videos I have viewed from folks that bought a Chinese Baby Ex I can see some things to watch for when selecting one to buy. They might initially look identical but there are differences in build.

BTW: I spotted this selector valve on the boom of one of the models. Does anyone know what it is called and perhaps a source to buy them?

Saw these root rippers from Bxpanded designed for small tractor backhoes. I have a message to the company about if they can make to fit for the small Chinese excavator. I would think they would get a fair amount of interest with all the baby X's being sold. Let everyone know once they get back to me.

I looked it up. Part# JD260RT, US$299 plus shipping and tax I sent BXpanded a request for more info on pin size. There is a good chance it uses 25mm pins, which will make it likely that it fits the one-ton-ish China mini-Xs without modification. I like the serrated edge.

Thx for posting.

Is there another valve like that on the other side of the dipper? I have seen pix of the selector valves that have a slotted control, not the handle.

Don't mess with an excavator less than 3.5 tons, prefer a 5 tonne and up.
I rented one for inside basement work and had to go with the smallest and folding ROP to get to the work...

It may be small but sometimes small is good.

I had to rent one to dig some more piers after the plans got changed after construction started. I wouldn’t buy something that size but it’s actually pretty capable. I expect the 1 ton mini would out dig most tractor backhoes. I know the next size bigger would.

I imagine there is for the function of the hydraulic cylinder or tool attachment. I also have seen the type that you need a wrench to select. Would be nice to find a source of either.

That's so true. Squeezing a mini-X that is 3-feet wide, or even narrower, between buildings or into a backyard, or under a house is sometimes the best solution.

Komatsu makes a mini-X that is even smaller than these 1-tonners.

I love Takeuchis, my first real experience on excavators.
