Chipper Chinese Chipper Review

/ Chinese Chipper Review #41
Mark, since you replied to me: the primary purpose of my post was to point out that Tony was incorrect in stating only one model is imported.
Since I bought my chipper from a Jinma dealer too, it's interesting that mine is different than yours. No "00" in front of 6. Wouldn't surprise me to find that a number of different factories produce them. Does this mean unless purchased from Tractorloft, this thread doesn't apply?

My first thought would be that the english translation on the import paperwork changes with the translator, so the only consistent thing is the 6 and the rest is left as an exercise for the translator. All of the 6" chippers that I have seen have been manufactured by Jinma and are identical except for paint. I've only seen the 4" on web sites. I've never seen one at a dealer.

I did find one thing that it won't do, swallow a whole christmas tree. The feed mechanism isn't aggressive enough to collapse the branches in the hopper. You have to clip branches until the trunk diameter is under 3".

TonyC - Thanks for the tip on Gary from Emerybuilt. He's a great guy to deal with, and the responsiveness is fantastic. I ordered mine today!

To those wondering the price TonyC got of $1150 is correct providing you pre-pay. If you want one out of stock they're $1495. He has a pending order on them right now that he thinks will ship in a couple of weeks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ken - Thanks mucho for the update. I'll give Gary a call. BTW - can you tell us the shipping costs? Is he drop shipping the chipper directly to you, or is your chipper going to Emerybuilt and then he ships it to you?

Mountain Man - As far as I know the chipper is being shipped to them, and then to me. The current shipping estimate is $250 to $350 to Michigan.

I called Gary today and ordered a chipper. I should have it within the next 60 days. The post held true and he was a very pleasant person to work with. I can't say that I'm not a little concerned sending off $1150.00 to someone I don't know for something that I have't seen. I'll post as things progress.

Gary is on vacation this week in Ohio. I talked to him Friday just before he left. You'll have to wait until next week.

I talked to Gary after he got back from vacation. He said that
the factory confirmed the order, he's just waiting on shipping info so we can get an idea when they will be in.

/ Chinese Chipper Review #51
I spoke to him too. Maybe in a few weeks we'll be slinging wood chips!

Keith, Ken, and Tony:
I am looking forward to hearing about your experiences with Gary and the chipper. If you all have mostly positive things to say, I will probably order one too.

I also am waiting to see how your chipper deals work out. The price is very good if it is a quality machine. My next question is to check on how bad the shipping cost would be to S. Maine. Keep us informed of the delivery and use of them.

Thanks.

My guess is that it will be pretty high. The chipper I'm waiting on was actually ordered by someone else who canceled it due to high shipping costs. His price is so good it might still be a deal. Fortunately I can pick mine up. It's a 4 hour hike but certainly better than shipping it.

It just occured to me that I had seen a post for a dealer in the Mass. area. Bolton Power Equipment. He lists the price for the 6" chipper at $2495. There must be quite a markup on these items, and profit. At that cost it isn't that far off from the name brand, prices.

The chinese chipper comes unassembled and in need of a tune-up from the factory. I got mine in the crate as I'm mechanically enough inclined and enjoy putting these things togther.

Some dealers, and I think the Guy in Bolton is one of them, do a whole lot of pre-service to the equipement so it runs and operates at the same level as the name brands.

Last item, the 006 model will easily chip a 6" hardwood log on a moderately powerful tractor, most of the name brands I looked at cost $4000+ for that capability. Ones in the $2500 price range only seem to go to 3" or 4" diameter.

Doing the math, a 4" log has a cross section of ~12.4 sq. inches, while a 6" log has a cross section of ~27.9 sq. inches., so a 6" chipper has over twice the capacity of a 4" chipper.

FWIW,

Got in touch with Gary today. They shipped out of China on the 10th of Nov. Should be in around 10th Dec. I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival, it's been a long couple of months waiting for them to come in. My next task will be to figure out how to get it to Michigan, ship by truck, or drive 11 hrs to pick it up. I'll keep you all posted on how this progresses.
