I think I’ve got one of these in my future, probably spring. Considering Typhoon and Kymron. Lots of positive review videos. Seems they both have US support.

I have multiple digging projects and I think it will pay for itself vs renting something multiple times at who know what a whack. Probably 1500 or so every time. I don’t live at the property up north yet so having to plan around when I could get there, weather etc is a concern with renting.

I dug out about as much as I could with my T25 with my bucket on my driveway project, but I need to dig out another 5 feet on width and shape and thin the embankment where it intersects with the road. Then there’s stumps to dig, rocks to dig up (or bury if too big). Lots of fallen trees to clean up etc.

The problem with Chinese excavators is the severe lack of information. Right now I’m looking into the TT XIX and SHY15. Not sure the SHY15 is worth $6k over the XIX.

Unfortunately it is not just the lack of information but sometimes the information they provide is wrong. You get unreliable machine weights, horsepower, and what features are on the excavator. You also get some strange quality control issues and even worse thought out designs.

With all that though the low cost and real usability can still make it an acceptable choice to have one.

I did hear from machinery asia specs on the three pump system whereas most of the machines have a single gear pump with a port to feed the pilot controls. So this is a definite step up in flow and volume, but not a vaiable piston pump like the SHY series have from Huayee. That seems to be one of the main differences that I can see between them.

3 pump displacement: 10ml/r+10ml/r+3ml/r
10 ML/R = 5 GPM at 2000 RPM (or 20 LPM))
main system flow: 35L/min
motor driver flow: 35L/min
pilot flow: 3L/min (.8 GPM)
system pressure: 25Mpa
bucket digging force: 17Kn
travel speed: 2.1km/h
hydraulic oil tank: 19.2L
diesel oil tank: 10.7L

From their website and chatting with them I still don’t know what type of pump is has. The below is straight from their site.

“TERROR XIX's Upgraded Triple-Load Sensing Valves and Load-Sensing Triple Pumps are built to harness the full potential of Kubota D902 engines This system provides higher hydraulic flow and more precise oil distribution, ensuring exceptionally smooth and stable machine operation. The triple pumps can supply oil to different actuators (such as the boom, bucket, and travel motor) independently.”

I think the may have updated their description. It now mentions a piston travel motor. What exactly is that? I’m hoping it is planetary travel motors. I’m concerned about freewheeling downhill.

Yesterday, the Typhon website mentioned something about a plunger pump. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nogaltractorguy - tjhey are gear pumps - but three of them instead of one, as they described the pump for the drives is separate from the boom and digning, and the pilot controls has a 3LPM pump.

I looked up the gear pump specs for 10ML/R pumps at 2000 rpm they generate 20LPM (not 35) but still this machine has 43 LPM overall vs 25 LPM for the other similar 2 ton class machine is a big improvement.

As far as the drive motors go they are the enclosed piston style and these have braking as standard, I believe, but that's outside my knowledge department :).

I’ve been comparing the XIX with the SHY15 which is $18k and can’t find anything that would sway me towards the SHY. The thumb on the XIX is braced, the tracks are longer and both seem to expand to the same width. The XIX has a bigger engine. Both have flat floors. The SHY seems to be of slightly better quality but I have not seen them in person. The XIX beats the SHY in price by several thousands. The SHY lists a piston pump.

I wasn't comparing the SHY15 but the SHY 20 to the XIX. The SHY 15 has a gear pump setup - 20+8 LPM so 28 total and the XIX 2 20LPM gear pumps and a 3 LPM pilot pump so total flow rate is higher.

For the $ the XIX is the best deal IMO even comparing it to the SHY 20 machine.

I think you are correct. The SHY20 isn’t a much bigger machine. Certainly not worth the premium over the XIX. My opinion.

There's another review on the XIX you may have seen with reference to the three stage Parker Pumps here Feedback
