Chinese Shuttle Questions...

Just ordered (my 2nd) Jinma this one with Shuttle shift. From what I gather the shuttle on the Jinma is not in the creeper box?

On my first Jinma I discovered the transmission lube did not cascade forward from the rear fill point to fill the creeper box. I drilled & tapped the creeper cover & put a dipstick in it for peace of mind later so level could be checked. To get the lube to cascade forward I blew a little compressed air in the transmission vent & everything was fine after that. ARTRAC responded to my post on that saying he looked in one of his transmissions & the lube looked like it was suppossed to pass through the bearings to fill the creeper box. With that he mentioned on a Kama the creeper box was a shuttle.... With these tractors being so alike in so many ways I was curious if anyone ever investigated if a Kama shuttle box could be installed inplace of the Jinma creeper box & make a shuttle machine out of a non shuttle Jinma??? Anybody got any insight on that? Never having seen a Kama the transmision may well be totaly unlike a Jinma but I had to ask....

f-100, congrats, glad to hear ya are gettin another one. but---if you don't mind telling us, (and if you do, just say none of your business, no harm intended), how much did the crated LE cost vs. an assembled Le? how much do you figure you are saving by assembling?

The KAMA has a larger frame and is totally different than JInma. The Jinma shuttle is in the rear of the trans with a cable that runs to a lever under the dash. It is a pretty nice setup. The KAMA simply has a lever going directly into the housing between the bell housing and the transmission itself.

In reply to how much I saved buying a crate tractor...Believe it or not I DUNNO....../never asked... Some years back I swallowed my pride & for a few bucks started wearing this shirt thats suppossed to have a tie/jacket available.... To keep from going nuts after working with my hands all these years & now setting trapped at a desk a good part of the day I REALLY enjoy working in my garage/restores my mental health. Was just taken with the crate tractor assembly idea from the start. With that I had a few years of restoring middle 50's Ford F100's & when I built my house many years of playing with/FIXING old dozers and the like while playing at improving the property. I knew nothing about these tractors & after assembling a crate tractor I have no fear of fixing anything that happens to it... In my case it was advantageous/ would have opted for the crate versus assembled for near even money just for the oportunity to play. I REALLY look foward to assembling the 2nd one/have lots of ideas for things I'd to do different/changes I'd like to make to wiring & such.... For some of us a crate tractor really is a great option...

So you liked assembeling you're jinma too huh!? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I liked it so much I assembled a 2nd one & sold it /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I was planning on selling the 1st one, but the guy was set on getting my blue one, (which after assembeling the green one first, it (the blue one) had some additional changes I made BEFORE and DURRING it's assembly. ( Moved the battery forward 1", added ground straps to all the controls/gauges and tank, tightened down a few extra items I missed on the first one ect.) It was fully assembled with canopy and all. I still never put the canopy on my green one even after 3 + years ! hahaha. (not out side enough to worry about rain and when I'm working it I like the OUTDOORS not being under the shelter.) not to mention I'm constantly bumping the roll bar on some low hanging tree...


anyhow back then crates were much cheaper and easier to get, seems not everyone can get them as well now. WHO are you getting you're from?? (you can PM me the info as the guy I got mine from closed shop this spring sometime)

Hey Spiker, I'm not bashful at all about telling people where I get my tractors.. Glenn@ Coastal Tractor. Met him when he was selling a used tractor.. I was thinking used as I had heard all those horror stories ( Stories I believe to be generated by people who have never seen an actual Jinma & try to justify the HUGE cost of Blue, Green or Orange... Orange by the way makes some nice industrial stuff few can afford & their Happy Home Owner grade stuff ain't built any better than the Jinma...least thats MY take on the subject..) about Chinese tractors.. I had $10K to spend & all the used with loaders I was looking at were pretty used up... Glenn talked me into going over & actually LOOKING at the Jinmas & I was impressed/bought one. HAVE NOT REGRETTED IT!!!! I'm from the Troy NY area home of the former Troy Bilt/Gardenway factory. One of my friends/neighbors worked in Engineering at Garden Way. He's been up to see my 224... He's a guy whose been around tractors & design.. Has a 27 HP Bolens (Iseki ) he now wants to sell & get a Jinma.....Crate tractor.... Glenn has treated me REAL well. Ended up buying all my implements there too-real good prices. In the Northeast I think Coastal's TOPS....

I agree with all F100 posted. I too got mine(224) from Coastal. No regrets. Had a blast putting it together with TLC. Been a mechanic for over 30 years and took pride in my assembly and learned a lot about the machine during the assembly. They say about a 8 hour day one can put it together, took me 20 hours just due to my finicky nature. With that said, not all may be able to handle problems that can arise. I approach it as a challenge and enjoyed it emenesly. I would love to put together another just like F100 is going to but my pocketbook isn't that deep right now. Maybe next year or if I have a friend that wants one I'd help with the assembly. Of course there would have to be some compensation for my efforts(cold ones, sandwiches, snacks, etc) Hey being nice is one thing but I do have requirements.

I'm in process of attempting to land a maintenance management postion, (I've always just DONE the work, never managed anyone as far as telling them how to go about doing it.) like you're self I'm not sure if I can take setting behind a desk more than a few hrs a week! (not to mention my spelling and hand wrighting is very poor too much time spend banging my hands aginst hard steel things makes it harder to HOLD on and make NICE readable words on paper!) even typing I suffer from fat finger problems,! LOL

Spiker, Best of luck in whatever you choose to do with the Management position... For me it WAS swallowing my pride but with Father Time & arthritis telling me its time to slow down ( only 49 but hard work/heavy iron/numerous injuries have taken their tolls...) the transition wasn't too bad... Let the young guys do the work/learn the trade & you reap your rewards for all the years/efforts!

Mark, I wish you luck with getting and doing the new job. I'd rather do the work myself than manage other people, but I went for the promotions for the higher pay (which translates into higher pension, too).

I've been told I'm good at those things, but I also always kept a dictionary within reach. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif And I've always disliked writing anything by hand. Many years ago, when personal computers were not so common, and none existed in our police department, I tried to budget for one for myself (it was getting hard to hire secretaries who could take shorthand and were good typists). My boss, and assistant chief, nixed that idea; said captains didn't need a computer. So I bought my own little Radio Shack computer and a daisy wheel printer and took them to the office.
