Re: Chinese Tractors Aren\'t Worth the Risk

Hi, Yes i did put a post on the CTOA about my container. Its a bad shipment for me.It was only my 3rd in as many years and the only one that was this frustrating. I am not a dealer and do not make a profit from selling tractors but instead make enough to help import my own personal stuff. I am actually taking a small fee for pushing paperwork only, and will not do it again because its too much work and not very appreciated by the friends of mine who get there tractors cheap. But I still need to get my parts and plan to put up a posting about the outcome. If they come there is no grounds to use that post as evidence of chinese tractors being risky. So its unfair to use that post yet as an example of the kind of service that should be expected. My sales contact says he will send me the parts and I believe he will so far. When I get everyone an update I will post it on both sites. I try not to pull any punches about anything so I felt it was my duty to inform other import guys what happened even though i knew it may have a negitive outcome. I was really trying to get a point out to everyone that importing these is not as easy as everyone may think. Buying from a bigger dealer such as ITS and northern or Bolton has its advantages. This would be one of them and would eliminate the headachs I went through. I am still standing behind the product here, so i think you may have took me wrong to use me as an example. If you purchased one of these from a dealer you would not have the headaches I went through because they would have done that for you.
Maybe I posted to make sure I got my parts.... the chinese read this stuff too. Not saying I wouldnt have got them but a few things did not get shipped twice now so i am looking for some insurence . I am not using that post as a lie to get something I didnt deserve to get, just a little insurence to make sure i do. The great thing about the web....
Just to clear things up, thanks Schmalts

Re: this subject

but what everyone forgets is who makes these tractors for deere, new holand etc. the korean and chinesse and japan.
look at kukje of korea they make john deere tractors and show them on there web site. mahindra come out of the same line as massey and allis(agco) tractors. so take your pic, are you paying alot more for a name?

Re: this subject

Everyone's heard of the tomatoes going into the cans at a cannery, some get a store label and some get a BIG Brand label, so if BIG Brand costs more, you are only paying for the name, right? Maybe

Maybe there really are two differant grades.

Maybe the Big Brand has better parts, quality control, or tolerances.

Maybe the Big Brand has better support, parts availability, etc.

Maybe the Big Brand has better customer service.

Maybe the Big Brand is more equipped to handle product liability

None of which might be enough to justify additional cost, to you.

Then again, Mayble Little Brand is better on all above counts.

But are they really the same?

Re: this subject

JohnS has the best comparison of the Chinese tractors to the big names on his web site http://johnstractor.homestead.com. I chose them because I need a working tractor and the cost/benefit ratio is very positive.

I wanted a simple and reliable tractor with low operating and maintenance costs. Thats what I found.

Is it a direct replacement to a Bota, JD or NH? Maybe

I think we get the point.

Re: this subject

I have seen several Chinese tractors and the thing that I noticed was the poor paint and finish quality. It seems that there are many satisfied owners, but I think the qualiy control as far as fit and finish, needs some improvement.

Re: this subject

Although I agree with you about the "fit and finish" aspect of these tractors, it doesn't have anything to do with its operation . They will work and work HARD........but I'm biased.

Isn't that the main purpose of a tractor?

Re: this subject

I checked out your site and I wish you success. I agree the main reason is to WORK a tractor, but fit and finish along with quality and reliability is desired by many.
