I maintain two miles of country road for all the neighbors. We installed chip and seal in one sloped stretch of road because we got tired of the gravel washboarding. Big mistake. Eventually rain did wash out the edges and put pot holes in the middle of it. The trouble is, you can't go in there with a tractor and clean it up, or at the very least, it's very hard to do without further ripping up the roadway. I wound up tearing up those sections that were too far gone (tooth bar comes in handy here) to expose the gravel underneath. Then, I could smooth those areas with the BB and all the neighbors are happy. To me, it does qualify as "seat time".
