Chipper Chipper Blade Sharpening

For what its worth, a service rep at the US distributor for Valby/Farmi told me that a one degree difference in the prescribed angle of a chipper knife will have a significant effect on chipper performance.

OK, so for those of us with used chippers and are just following what the last guy may or may not have screwed up, what is the correct angle?

Whatever the owner's manual tells you it should be.
My Patu is 30.5 degrees.

"MY" BearCat #554 calls out a 45* angle...

If "U" own a bearcat you can call Crary and ask for instruction sheet for
replacement chipper blades.

Shreader bades are different...

I sent my Salsco knives to Salsco for sharpening...they offer sharpening service. When the blades start to get dull, I can also reduce the distance between the knife edge and anvil (there's an adjustment for this) and this helps, although feed speed is reduced somewhat.
