I have a 7 shank field cultivator similar to the one in the first post, mine is in good shape with almost new points. I pull it mostly in my garden with a 33HP Ford tractor, with few problems having enough power. I pull it over plowed land if there is no trash to clog me up, 8 to 10 inches deep. And I remove the center shank to cultivate my garden rows. Any dirt that was worked last year will be no problem this year. Like I said, a 2810 II tractor, 33 HP, and very few problems.
I worked on a dairy farm a few years ago doing field work. I pulled a 7 shank chisel plow similar to the third post, using a 5000 Ford with an aftermarket turbo and, somebody said , the fuel pump was turned up to really increase the HP. The chisel was pulled through corn stubble where we cut corn for silage. The chisel was about all the 5000 could handle.
I guess my point is the chisel takes a lot more tractor than the cultivator.
