Fellas,
Thought someone might point me in the right direction:
I am not sure of the right terms for the attachment I think I need which would serve two purposes:
(1) breaking through rocky ground to loosen top soil/grass/rocks for a road bed so I could come back with my FEL and remove what I have broken up
(2) loosening up the caliche in my caliche pit so I can remove the caliche with my FEL.
What I envision is similar to what my Dad used to loosen up hardened pasture: Straight tool bar with what he called chisels. This would actually be more in the line of rippers or perhaps like the scarfiers on motorgraders.
The old tool bar my Dad used is still out at the farm. It was for a 4 row tractor originally--not sure what horse a UB Moline was> I have a JD 5203 with a Cat 2 hitch--I have no clue at this point whether I can use that old equipment and convert to a cat 2 3ph. Could be the shanks, etc would be too heavy for my 5203 and I end up breaking something?
Didn't see anything on the JD website that struck me--the chisel plow isn't it.
Maybe something like this is made for the cat 2 3PH?
I may be expecting too much from my tractor. No doubt one has to be mighty careful when playing in rocky ground.
Any thoughts ? and thanks!
Gary
