You are exactly right, Bird. One of the problems I had was convincing the Doctor there was something other than the heart attack causing me chest pain. I just kept insisting that there was something wrong in my right lung. Finally he called in a pulminary specialist on Christmas day to check me and that's when they found the pneumonia.

Unfortunately, I was running a high fever and nothing tasted very good. Although they offered a full holiday menu, I think I had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and couldn't even eat all of that. As soon as they got me on antibiotics and my fever came down, my appetite came right back.

txdon: Believe me, this wasn't the Christmas present I had plannned for Kathy. As a matter of fact, we will probably exchange presents today since our celebration kind of got sidetracked.

RedRocker: Hey, I know some things have been a struggle in your life over the last year and I appreciate your offer of help. If I can figure an excuse to get together and do tractor stuff, I just might take you up on your offer. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Believe me...I do not intend to do this again.

PineRidge: Thanks for the good wishes and kind words. It's hard to keep to a NH guy down, even after we turn the color of our tractors. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Eddie: I told you I was going to fish in that lake you are building. I don't intend to let anything stand in the way of that. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ...and yes, more on the silt project soon. My doctor even gave his permission for me to get back on the tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Mike: Well, I could say I'm sorry for making you do a self-evaluation of your own health, but I am not. It's really necessary. I've been seeing a doctor and everything has been showing up pretty normal, but I guess I was still right of the verge of having a problem. I'd say you should change your diet if needed and probably get some help by taking some of the new prescription drugs that will help with cholestrol if it's indicated after a checkup. The most important thing is to go to the Dr. regularly and have some idea of your overall health. You have too much life to live to have it cut short by a surprise.

I guess all in all, I was pretty lucky. The timing was lousy, but I have my own self to blame for that. All-in-all it's been a Christmas with a lot to be thankful for. The good friends here at TBN come to mind as a perfect example. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jim

Just read about your bout of ill health, we spent Christmas plus a couple of days in Garland with our son and his family and was not watching TBN. Glad you are doing OK now.

We never know when something will catch up to us. I had a prostate biopsy a few weeks ago. Now that AIN'T a fun procedure. Luckily it came back negative but the reason that I have been having high PSA values was an infection in the prostate. It spread after the procedure and took 3 separate rounds of antibiotics to bring under control. I did not start feeling OK until just before Christmas. The hardest part was that my Doctor did not want me "bouncing" around on the tractor.

I am back on now!!

<font color="blue"> Last Friday I went into the hospital with a case of pneumonia and a heart attack.

I was shocked to hear this. but glad that you are doing OK.
If that's you're picture in your post you look to young and healthy to be having hart problems.

Had you ever had hart problems or symptoms before this happened?

I like the new phrase, "A stint in time". I'm happy to hear that you are doing fine.

Last Christmas my brother went to the hospital with chest pains. In about one hour they had transported him to the heart specialist and he had a new stint. I was in his room less than an hour later, and he looked fine. In fact, he was quite jovial and acted as if he hadn't a care in the world. They sent him home the next day, but then, he didn't have pneumonia.

Strange thing about my brother's case; he leads a very heart friendly life. He eats the right stuff, gets plenty of exercise, and wouldn't worry if the sun didn't shine. The doctor said it was just a case of a damaged artery accumulting a blockage. The rest of his veins look fine. That's a relief.

Here's good health to us all in the new year.

1*I had 2 of them 3 months apart.
2*It sure hain't.
3*So did my first one but I wasn't so lucky on the second one. It came back positive for prostate cancer.
4*My PSA reading was well within the normal reading even though the last biopsy showed I had prostate cancer.
5*I never felt bad or had any symptoms. That's the hideous thing about prostate cancer there is no pain or symptoms until it's to late.
6*My doctor wouldn't let me on my tractor either.
7*I just got back on mine too.

I went to Detroit Michigan 11/3/2005 for prostate surgery.
I just got the official word from my doctor today that the operation was successful.
PTL
It's been a long 10 month battle.

<font color="red"> Fellows If you're over 40 I can't stress enough how important getting and annual PSA test and The physical exam is.
It could very well save your life. It did mine.

I was shocked when I learned how prevalent prostate cancer is. The chances of developing it are probably much greater than most people realize.

Double doggone darn Jim!

Miss Glenda was reading over my shoulder as she irons her clothes for the day. This morning was the first time I looked at this thread since page one.

We both almost fell over at your news. She like Kathy was a widow when she found me and instantly her heart went out to her. The thought of losing another husband is a pretty tough row to hoe.

We're glad you're better. We know the good die young. Unless of course you act gruff. Then you live as long as the bad guys. In other words, your longevity is a given even if you are okay for a guy.

Maybe our next norte tejas get together will have a little more heart healthy menu and happen on a rainy day. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You take care of yourself. Our world wouldn't be the same if something happened to you.
