Glad you are doing fine now.

Fellas, let me echo this, please get your prostate checked regularly. The PSA test is not enough. I have a non tractor friend who had prostate cancer and his PSA was under 4. Mine has gone as high as 14 and I am clear so far. You need a good urologist.

Jim,

Glad you're doing OK. I've been through the same with my father and it's amazing what they can do now.

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif If you look thru enough pictures, you can almost always find one that makes you look far better than you are in real life. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

LBrown59: The doctor said I had had one previous heart attack that was so minor I didn't know about it. Leading up to this, I was being followed for slightly elevated blood pressure (130/80) and some cholesterol screening, but my energy level and breathing were good for a 58 year-old guy. I've also let my weight get higher and have been on a diet to try and pull off a few pounds. I've been up around 230 lb, and I feel so much better when I'm well under 200. My goal has always been to stay around 180. To bring reality to my own way of thinking, I always consider what it feels like to lift a 50 lb bag of feed. If I'm 50 lb overweight, that's like carrying that 50 lb bag of feed around with me all the time.

Prostate and colon cancer are all things we need to detect early. The treatments for those are so successful when problems are detected early. My father had prostate cancer and passed away at age 84. Had he been detected and treated sooner, he probably would have easily lived into his late 90's because of his otherwise good physical shape and activity level. One thing for sure, prostate problems are going to keep you off of your tractor for awhile. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

( Last Christmas my brother went to the hospital with chest pains. In about one hour they had transported him to the heart specialist and he had a new stint. I was in his room less than an hour later, and he looked fine. In fact, he was quite jovial and acted as if he hadn't a care in the world. They sent him home the next day, but then, he didn't have pneumonia. )

Tom: Your brother's case sounds very familiar. I really think I was under more distress from the pneumonia than from the heart attack. It's funny (meaning odd) that his bout came on Christmas and mine was just a couple of days before. I wasn't stressed in any way and I'd been shopping at Wal*Mart only a couple of hours before. I think the luckiest thing that happened to me was having this happen at home with my wife right there to immediately take me to the emergency room. From the time I arrived at the emergency room until I was having the stent inserted was just over 1 hour. That included a 65 mile helicopter transport too. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Harvey: I ain't goin' nowhere...I still have to build a little marketing brochure for your connectors. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I guess telling someone you've had a heart attack is a lot like having one. There just ain't no way of doing it gently. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I knew I'd surprise a lot of people, but when RedRocker asked what Santa had left under my tractor, what was I gonna say? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey, if this is a bit of a wakeup call for all middle-aged TBNers, so be it. I may still have fish frys, but I'll probably cut back on the quantity I consume. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks again to everyone for your good wishes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim, I hadn't been keeping up either, I just drove back from Houston this morning. Glad to hear you're doing better. That cholesterol medicine really works, my test came back at 350, I was put on Vitorin 10/40 and 5 weeks later, it was down to 160. I'll probably have to take it from now on though. Been dieting and exercising but the weight isn't coming off like I hoped. I gotta stay healthy for my grandson!!!!
